Hi Ya'll from Hotlanta.

I posted this in the Technical Topics as well, please don't remove, I thought that would give me the best coverage, I need some type of advice from you folks that have owned GUZZI's for a long time and know the best Dealers, Service, Mechanics out there.

I have posted here a few times and everyone has been great.

I have an '04 Nero Corsa. FBF Airbox removal and K&N Filter. Stucchi Cross Over, Power Commander, MG TI Exhaust.

After I installed all the EXTRA's things worked great for about 2k miles, then much stuttering, sputtering, hesitiation, often when pulling off in 1st and when rolling up through 3 - 5k in 2 / 3 / 4th gear.

Bike only as 4500 miles on it. I took it into my dealer, Atlanta Triumph Ducati for help. It has been there now for 7 weeks. They have no idea what it is and can't fix it. They called me today and said they wanted me to bring in my stock ECU to see if perhaps it is something with the MG TI Race ECU.

I am going to bring the thread that a "jimbemotumbo" posted who seemed to have the same problem and fixed with a EFI Setup?

Don't know what to do? I am absolutely passionate about this bike and I will NOT get rid of it. I know someone out there can fix it. I am going to give my Atlanta Dealer one more week, but after 2 months I need to get it back before riding season is completely over with.

That being said, I want my bike back no matter what! Any suggestions? Is there a GUZZI Specialist somewhere in the country I can ship it to, fly out there and have it worked on & shipped back? Is there a "GUZZI GURU" out there I can pay to come to Atlanta and fix this?

I am open to any suggestions as I refuse to give up on my bike, I love it too much -

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Take the PC off the bike.

                                                                                    Ciao, Steve G.

That would be my first guess too.

But since the dealers are stumped, it is more likely some hard to diagnose problem.

First, what they should check for is smooth consistent ignition(using a timing light), smooth consistent TPS operation, consistant fuel pressure, good compression, proper tuneup settings.

In my order :2c: of most likely.

1) some hard to locate bad connection....goood luuuck!

2) a bad sensor

3) a bad ECU(unlikely, but it has happened)

4) timing chain (not likely with low miles)

5)dirty fuel filter (yah, even with low miles, but the consistent condition problem contradicts)

6)bad coil (should not be hard to diagnose, but otherwise a likely candidate)

7) bad relaly(I am a sucker for bad relay problems.)

It'll be easier for people to find this way.

I'd agree with the above-given advice. Drop the PCIII first (edit- Todd, you make a good point on the other thread- I'm not suggesting the PCIII failed, just that it is one less variable).

After that, the most common parts I've heard of failing are (in no particular order):

computer/ECU

TPS

Crank Sensor

Temp. sensor

but since it's just air/fuel/spark/compression, you might check the fuel delivery, spark and compression. How's the air in Hotlanta?

or, forbid, you have a crimped or broken wire or an errant short. :huh2:

There are a couple of very good Guzzi mechanics nationally, but for every great one you find, you'll also find someone willing to say they are crap. Oh well.

As you'll be in Atlanta, you can stay free at my place ... if you don't mind checking out the EV and Ballabio. Heck, you can even measure the latter's pawl-sping boss to your satisfaction.

It won't all be thankless work. Do have a bit of leftover Peroni from the GarageMahalo party and can always round up grappa for visiting Guzzist. :drink:

Cheers Bill

I've been checking the post each morning for the airline ticket. Can't wait!

I've been very interested in your garage 'project', so really, Christmas has come early.

I know this might sound stupid, but has the dealer started from square one and tried adjusting the valves? Al Roethlisberger had a sputter, cough problem when hot and it turned out the valves were way tight. This is often overlooked even at the dealers. The next step after the valve adjustment would be the throttle sync.

Just a thought,

Mike

How come there's only three of 'em in your picture?

And don't worry about getting over here. I'm sure that ticket is on its way as we speak. Customs officers have been notified, and border security has been increased.

The one on the right appears to have eaten the fourth one.

Guzzi mechanics will eat just about anything.

They're pretty fond of the factory grease so bikes made after lunch time can be a bit dry.

We'll overlook it too. If he comes in looking flushed, pretend you don't notice.

The ticket hasn't arrived yet.

Don't you love your bike anymore?
