al_roethlisberger Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Hi everybody, this is the new owner of T166, currently in London. Just picked her up near Leeds and drove her home last week end. 300 miles on it, 0lovely, lovely feeling inside Only 300 miles total? Was it never hardly ridden, in a time capsule?
Sbuonline Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Hi Al sorry, I was referring to the 300 miles I clocked on driving her back. She has 16K now, about 600 of which I put on the last 2 weeks of nearly 0 degree This is my second Guzzi, but being the first a Cali, I def. felt the change in comfort. Planning to drive London-Lucca(Italy)-Amsterdam-London in April. Any UK lads interested in the trip? 2
Sbuonline Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Anybody could refer to a decent thread about 1-interesting mods (especially for longish trips) 2- luggage? I was tempted to go for a SW-Motech legendary https://sw-motech.com/en/products/luggage/Legend+Gear/ tailbag+tankbag soft combo

I was tempted to go for a SW-Motech legendary https://sw-motech.com/en/products/luggage/Legend+Gear/ tailbag+tankbag soft combo Not familiar with that brand of luggage, and as you'll soon discover there wasn't and isn't much luggage or other touring parts that fit the V11 Sport and Le Mans.... the market was just too limited. That being said, there were at least two sets of side bags made to fit the V11 Sport/Le Mans: The "Tekno" bags, which weren't really all that great and are no longer available new. You can see a set here: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6547&do=findComment&comment=190869 Hepco Becker made some mounts that their standard hard bags fit, and I believe those are still available. http://www.harpermoto.com/hepco-and-becker-complete-rack-moto-guzzi-v-11-650.526-00-01.html http://www.harpermoto.com/hepco-becker-junior-30-hard-case-set.html As far as other touring modifications, I'd suggest checking the FAQ section that has lists of bar risers, peg modifications, etc. Although fair warning, some links are long dead as products have ceased to become available over the last decade.

I was tempted to go for a SW-Motech legendary https://sw-motech.com/en/products/luggage/Legend+Gear/ tailbag+tankbag soft combo I use Ventura luggage on my V11 Nero Corsa, did you buy the Tenni on Ebay UK? my Nero is listed at the moment for sale I assume you know about the problems with the single plate clutch on the Tenni, I just completed a twin plate conversion if you need any info, I've done three conversions now 3
al_roethlisberger Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 I use Ventura luggage on my V11 Nero Corsa, did you buy the Tenni on Ebay UK? my Nero is listed at the moment for sale Ah yes that's right, I completely forgot about the Ventura system.... and I HAVE ONE! (I have never used it, in a box somewhere ) But when I did buy it, it seemed like a good tail bag option. https://www.ventura-bike.com/product/moto-guzzi/V-11-Sport https://www.ventura-bike.com/product/moto-guzzi/V11-Le-Mans I had the Tekno bags for a while, but just wasn't impressed with their overall build quality and was worried they'd fall off given their questionable bag mounting. I've never owned the Hepco Becker bags, but I'm sure they are high quality.
Sbuonline Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Hi guys, many thanks for the suggestions, I might give it a try to the legendary set (return it in case...they have set that supposedly is unerverdal fit...). As Steve mentioned, how many of the Tenni here went to double plate? I really like the current 6 gears set up and the bike run very nicely, if I understand correctly, a conversion implies going to double and 5 gears...completely a different feel. Is it possible still to get steel flywheel to avoid issues from th aluminium stock? My bike is 16k so far and nothing suspicious from the clutch.Gearbox was rebuilt at 12k it seems. Another curiosity, tenni are stated as 2002-2003....but, mine being 166, and assuming a cronologica built set up, I assume they are all 2002. It seems that has Öhlins in front (but not on back)... Trying to get to know this oldish lady before a take it for the long trip
docc Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 My 110,000 mile Tekno have never fallen off, but have needed repair and refinishing. I'm on my second pair of bags now as the originals were getting right tatty. I have really put them through their paces, always carrying a serious load-out and the occasional case of beer. Yes, they'll carry a full case! (I admit, they ain't purty . . .) 1

Trying to get to know this oldish lady before a take it for the long trip The single plate clutch paired with the aluminum flywheel was oem for 6 speed spine frame models - Tenni, Scura, and Rosso Mandello year '01 and '02. One labeled '03 is likely a carryover, but may vary in some countries. The alm flywheel is not guaranteed to break. The number that have and the consequences if it does, is enough for most folks to swap it out. Your stock 6 speed will accept the dual plate/steel flywheel found on all the other 6 speed V11 models. It will also accept the RAM single plate/steel (lightened) flywheel. The RAM is the easiest and least expensive swap but sadly, no longer available. (although you may find one in Europe) "In Theory", the RAM 5 speed http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193&products_id=1698set up will work, but you must use the clutch hub from the Tenni. I "think" the clutch hub, and the pressure plate cup (which comes installed in the pre-asembled and balanced RAM kit) http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193&products_id=221 in combo with the clutch activation rod, are the only differences with the 5spd and 6spd kits. Some members have discussed and speculated regarding this option, but as yet, I don't know of definitive proof. Some reading to get you started, if interested. There's more on this forum using search feature. "aluminum flywheel" "flywheel failure" "exploding flywheel" etc. Don't worry. Just get informed and ask questions. With the kind help and advise from forum members, I did my own swap, and took care of the bubbling paint on the motor at the same time. https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16675&hl=+aluminum%20+flywheel https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19512&hl=%2Baluminum+%2Bflywheel https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19010&hl=+aluminum%20+flywheel https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19510&hl=+aluminum%20+flywheel Also must ask... trans rebuilt at 12k? what's up with that? maybe included a replacement clutch, no? 1
Sbuonline Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Hi Footgoose, what about this? https://moto-renzo.biz/en/Tecnical-Goods/Clutches-and-Spare-Parts/Clutches-Moto-Guzzi/Clutches-Moto-Guzzi-Spare-Parts/RAM-Clutch.html Getting ready to do the swap, as at 16K I don't want to risk to explode midway my European tour
footgoose Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 since they list a California on the link as compatible, it's for a 5 speed. You would not use the hub (upper right part) from the kit, but the one in your Tenni will work. The shaft is just a bit shorter. But first, you must either find someone who's done this swap! (5spd RAM on a 6spd trans) OR... contact RAM and/or get someone to confirm the only difference between their 5spd kit and their 6spd kit is the clutch hub and the plate cup. IF this is the case, you will still have to either disassemble the plate kit and change the cup OR determine for sure the actuating rod length, and mill the end to fit the already installed 5spd cup. There is a thread on here somewhere regarding the rod measurements. I think someone has done this. I hope this is not too confusing. I'm just suggesting what I believe will work, and how I'd proceed. 2

Admin Jaap Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Hi all, FWIW: I used to update the Tenni Registry, but I haven't done it for quite a few years. So please don't be annoyed if you don't see your Tenni listed in the original post. 1
