Thanks.

I saw a Scura in Louisville a few years ago. Looked great except for the paint blistering (just like mine)on the engine block.. Do all Scura models do this ?

Mines flakey and getting flakier by the mile I like it, just tell folk it's cause it goes so fast the paint burns off.

Just stumbled on to this page, Scura #599 has been one of my rides for three yrs. or so in Springfield MO. quite a machine (2nd Guzzi) see ya @ the Guzzi National in Va. this summer!

Posted

Scura #383 had been a one owner bike that was originally purchased in Moorehead Minnesota and had lived in the Twin Cities until two weeks ago. I'm now its second owner, and it's in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Scura Number 255 which was resident in Sydney Australia has moved to much closer to the Great Barrier Reef and has a new owner - Tim Schroeder - may he enjoy the ride for many years to come !

Tenebris, my V11 Scura n. S046 is located in Bergamo, Italy (ad it was too before I buyed it: last owner was in my same town)

I want to ask in my club, Anima Guzzista: we have 21 Scura registered, all located in Italy, I think.

I'll post results

Just the facts. Sad to say I came across a very neglected S365 in Minnesota. I drove hours to see it after I was told on the phone it was in exceptional condition with no paint or corrosion issues, only had 1 garage tip-over, etc.

Winter salt or like damage all over, an amateur repaint on the engine/trans which is all peeling off. Went through a dealer once with no current record of past ownership, current owner mentioned the dealer they got through in Chicago may have acquired it through auction which could indicate salt water storm damage or similar? Almost all fasteners are corroded or rusting, aluminum surfaces oxidizing, paint lifting, rear cowl repainted. Cad-plated surfaces like FI throttle cams starting to corrode, at least 5k miles since last oil change. Evidence on levers (one bent) and pegs of being down at low speed (more than a tip-over) on both sides. Has the clutch rattle but sometimes after engaging it would stop after disengaging, acted oddly, if I had purchased it would have come apart for inspection. Mis-matched tires. Right side Ferracci carbon can had damage, they cut the damage off and re-riveted, forks leaking. Somebody jammed a screwdriver in the upper triple clamp slots, started to bugger, bare pliers used on speedo cable, many other niggling issues. Attention needed everywhere.

Those are the things I could see, who knows what lurks beneath the surface? Was there water in the engine/trans/rear and resulting corrosion/pitting on gears, crank, pinion, etc? Looked at it and passed, way too much work to restore for the $5,500 they were asking or anywhere remotely close to that. For me, not knowing the history of how the damage originated was a real deal-killer, regardless of any price. If they gave it to me it would be headed for a frame-off and complete rebuild. What a shame, like spray painting over the Mona Lisa and hanging it outside at the beach.

I was so disappointed I didn't even ask about the title, I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if it had a salvage title. Some excited Squiddy may only see the Ohlins, hear the Ferracci and buy it but not me.

Well, the factory engine paint is like that. It looks like a 20 yr old tar roofing job. The rest of the damages were done by dumba**es and the patina was from neglect. There should be I.Q. test given before some people are allowed to own European transportation. Glad to hear your were astute and passed .
