Guest pasturej Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 After 18,000 miles and two and a half years of ownership I've decided to sell my V11 LM. I've advertised it in the 'for sale' forum here but have a couple of questions for anybody who has either bought a used V11 in the UK recently or who has spent any time looking at that market. What would be a reasonable price to ask? Given the relative rarity of these bikes there aren't exactly a lot around to price against. Where to advertise? Are MCN and Autotrader the two best bets? I know the middle of UK Winter is not the best time to sell but I'm hoping to be a buyer too so hopefully the two will cancel each other out (although it never seems to work quite like that!). Any advice appreciated. Thanks
grossohc Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I would use mcn to advertise your bike, i found mine by using there search facility then the dealer emailed me a few photos, which may help a prospective purchaser make up there mind especially if they are a good distance away ( in my case 500miles) Gary
Guest redguzziv10 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 i've bought two and sold two bikes on ebay. as well as an engine! The trick is to set a realistic reserve so that the interested parties will contact you for more information. thus starting a dialogue On all occasions i've done the deal outside of ebay (not strictly abiding by their rules) so that no listing costs are incurred. i think a good percentage of people do the same...using ebay as a good advertising tool. ps. if you make the bike available to europe as well you will find some people are prepared to travel across to uk to buy/sell....for some reason second hand bikes are holding a higher value in europe than here (i had a bloke travel from Rotterdam for my 4V engine i sold recently)
Guest pasturej Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Thanks, I've also noticed that ebay is often used as much as an advertising medium as a forum for closing a deal so may well put her on there. I did buy a car that way not long ago. The europe tip is useful too. I suppose the only real differences in spec are the speedo and headlight. Any views on price?
Guzzirider Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Helen bought a 2003 V11 Sport with 3000 miles on the clock from Eddys in Leeds for £4000 in April. I got £500 knocked off the price by some gentle negotiation. V11s priced over £4000 seem to get stuck for ages- there is even a low mileage 1 year old Rosso Corsa which has stayed unsold for ages in a local dealer priced at a very reasonable £4995, considering the new list price of £8700. If you are selling privately you need to be realistic with your pricing- I have seen several overpriced V11s that just keep getting relisting on EBAY down to no interest cause by too high a reserve. If you are in the Guzzi club it may be worth advertising in Gambalunga the club mag- but you will need to be patient as it is only printed every two months but at least you will be exposing your bike to an audience of Guzzi enthusiasts. Hope this helps Guy
DeBenGuzzi Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 OR you could just keep it forever like I'm looking at doing. Its worth more to me than the dollar signs show.
Guest PAULSMART Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Yeah - I would keep it (as I intend too) I reckon my 2001 v11 is around the £3000 - 3250 mark, and considering the money spent would mean a big loss. I think v11's are at a low point value wise, not new enough and not old enough for prices to rise / stabalise. A good pointer would be 1100 sports, which if in good condition are a min £2000 plus. Paul
Guest pasturej Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Thanks for the replies, particularly the recent pricing info. Looks like I need to re-set price expectations on mine. I'm not in a big rush to sell but do need to make some room in the garage before the next addition arrives - it's looking a little full in there at the moment. There is a low mile 2003 Sport on Ebay at the moment with 2 days to go and currently on £3,200 - will be interesting to see where that ends up.

There's new stuff in the dealer in NuT for not much more than £5000. I think a V11 Sport naked and Ballabio. Griso and Breva are only £7495ish. mike
