Guest ratchethack Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Yep that's right and that helped me the other day to get one for mine.I just gave this number (164/01). This filter is also the same with the one that Gagiva Navigator 1000 has.The fit into the box is perfect . 72148 Hey Alex - it looks like I threw away the box mine came in, along with the spec for the oil. It's no doubt standard filter oil (rhino smegma), but I want to know what BMC calls for. Please advise? TIA

(which is difficult to find in local dealers ) Here is also a link to a known Guzzi place where it sells it BMC cleaner kit I asked my dealer who also had the K&N s and suggested that the K&N cleaner -oil will be O.K. for the BMC's al well, dunno but as he explained it seemed that both are made of same quality of material and that K&N Oils will do no harm to it but instead.
Guest ratchethack Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Thanks, Alex. Looks like BMC ain't gonna give up their recipe in hopes that every customer will buy BMC rhino smegma. Well, they ain't gonna get ME that easy...trouble is, I can't remember what I used last time around. A memory is a terrible thing to lose... I do remember cleaning the filter in a weak solution of hot water and Simple Green and drying it carefully with a leaf blower before soaking it in *something* Any suggestions for generic air filter rhino smegma out there?
TX REDNECK (R.I.P.) Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Any suggestions for generic air filter rhino smegma out there? No! get up off of that fat wallet of yers. Now, how many gallons do you need ? Look Here
Guest ratchethack Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Thanks but no thanks, man. I ain't paying for garden-variety rhino smegma in a fancy bottle with a Name Brand in multi-color graphics. I want the GENERIC stuff. Seems to me I had a bottle of something left over from ~1975 & must've used it up last time.
Guest ratchethack Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 What's that?? 72165 Tex can explain rhino smegma. He's really much better with such things...

Please, please, purleeeaaaase, tell me it isn't so. I'll be good,I'll honest to god be good, just tell me it isn't so.............. Do they do stickers?
Guest ratchethack Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Say BigJ - what's y'er local single malt?

Guest ratchethack Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 What do you think , isn't that K&N filter treatment stuff appropriate? 72172 Yeah, Alex - I'm sure it'd work fine. It's just that I'm a tightwad on stuff like this. It's probably a low-grade paraffin-based (or some such) light oil byproduct that has a very limited market and sells for a few dollars a barrel, since refiners never give anything away. They tend to put lots of stuff like this in fancy bottles with name brands on 'em and sell it for $10 for 8-oz. bottle. The bottles cost them a lot more than the cost of handling the material just to get rid of it. Ever hear of WD-40? A guy who lives in my county got the patent on it. It's kerosene with a couple of additives and a few squirts of penetrating oil. I think the markup over material cost is something like 10,000%. I mostly just use kerosene. BAA TJM & YMM occasionally V
