hgravelpha@aol.com Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 I am going to purchase a H4 HID upgrade that was made for a Honda(auto). I will try and fit it to my v11s. If anybody have any advice or info on how to make this a simple process please chime in.
Guest IanJ Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I'm definitely interested to hear how that turns out, although I don't have any suggestions for you. Good luck with the conversion, please let us know what you find out!
dlaing Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I was considering this HID direct replacement for the H4 http://www.itsrealstuff.com/html/motorcycl...cle_h_i_d_.html $499 http://www.coolbulbs.com/HIDKits_body.asp $579 US Make sure you get the High/Low beam http://www.webbikeworld.com/lights/index.htm#list has links to other HID vendors. The Prices of HIDs is high and may come down in a couple of years. I was even thinking of getting a pair of Bicycle HID lights but I suspect the beam patterns might not be suitable. A pair of HID driving lights is another option...
callison Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Last I head, HID was under investigation by the DOT to be de-legalized. Power requirements are probably quite a bit in excess of what the bike can supply anyway.
Guest carlomoto Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I looked at HID, too. The cost was more than I could swallow, so I just bought a PIAA super bright. MUCH brighter. The blue-ish color of the bulb gives the headlight an interesting look against the rest of the bike as well. Good luck on the conversion. /Charlie
hgravelpha@aol.com Posted April 2, 2003 Author Posted April 2, 2003 HID does not draw anymore power than our current light. It actually draws 35w instead of the usual 55w. The reason for the low power draw is the HID system uses its own seperate ballast to heat up the xenon gas.
Guest jeremy Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Which model honda was it, I'd like to do something similar if it works out, after hitting a deer on my bike last fall I've been sort of paranoid.
