Only interested if it actually fires projectiles. That would be a useful thing...

But if one ever comes up cheap on ebay, I'd buy it just to put on a little tiddler... maybe that Lambretta chopper I've been planning to build...

Now THAT's how to accessorize a motorcycle!

Speed Tax Collector: "Do you realize you were doing 170 kms/hr in a 90Km zone?

Well equipped rider: "I certainly do."

STC : "Well carry on then."

:P

Besides the "look" I thought the "sound" of the exhaust, at power, was remarkably similar to a GAU gatling gun. Sort of like a buzz saw . . .

I like the commercial I saw on ESPN or SPEED a long time ago better, Cop pulls over a Camero or GTO I forget what walks up and says:

(cop) Nice car, know how fast you were going?,pop the hood please

(guy) I dunno 50mph, ok sir

(cop) Whats this a 454 big block 6 pack carbs, edelbrock intake, hedman headers, xtreme cam, mallory ignition, oversized oilpan 500hp and you were doing 50mph?

.

WHOOOOOOOOPIE :glare: , get out of here.

Fires a 7.62mm round, at 2000 rounds per minute.

I thought they were 6000 rounds per minute?

I think there's two different calibers.

Thread title gets a BIG bzzzt! for mixed terminology: chain guns are not Gatling guns!

The different rates of fire are dependent upon how big a motor they have driving the Gat & how many barrels; clearly the 5-barrel guns are going to fire at a lower round-per-minute rate than the 10-barrel guns.

Chain guns are single-barrel, with the action chain-driven by a motor. This was invented by Hughes Aviation(?) to enable the chin-turret on their Cobra? attack helicopter to function more reliably at a higher r.o.f. than a more traditional recoil-operated machinegun action can do.

Already saw the cheezy exhaust toy in a thread on the LABiker listserve; as I stated there, it's wasted on a cruiser: it needs to be mounted on a sprotbike w/ underseat exhaust & have some sort of propane feed so that you can get the "font of flame" f/x that a real Gatling produces...

Wrong -O skeeve.

"It is a common misnomer to refer to Gatling guns (rotary cannons) as chain guns. Certain Gatling do use a chain-gun mechanism; however, all Gatling guns are not inherently chain-powered weapons. Weapons such as the M61 Vulcan, the M197, the M134, and the XM214 are chain-powered Gatling guns." link

I've often wondered, if my Sport were a firearm what would it be?

Perhaps a sawed off 12 guage side-by-side as we imagine the Sicilians to sling?

One with external hammers to mirror the push-rods. :)
