Zoom Zoom Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Congratulations Doc. This is indeed good news!!! Zoom Zoom, John Henry
Martin Barrett Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 didn't the accident happen from the sidestand possibly being left in the down position and the sidestand kill switch not engaging? or did I misinterpet that in your story? 75562 The V11 has had some niggles with the side stand/clutch/gear position cut out system. A lot of it can be traced to the bullet connectors under the tank and a few dodgy components. Gill's sidestand cut out switch had been disconected and bypassed by its previous owner. So he was able to set off on a righthand sweep and get a good head of speed before leaning slightly left and then pole vaulting down the road. the rest is history
Dr Gil Posted January 24, 2006 Author Posted January 24, 2006 Here's a pic of the side stand switch installed. If it's not what you're looking for , I'll have another go. 75559 That's perfect docc! Just what I needed. I twisted that little bracket that holds the switch into every different position I could think of and nothing seemed right. Your picture should make the job of getting this end of the switch MUCH easier. Thanks.

The kill switch (and the mounting bracket) had been removed by the PO. I foolishly left my sidestand down. Having never even seen this doo-hicky on my bike I was having a devil of a time figuring out how it all fit together with the sidestand.
twhitaker Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 A couple years ago my bike went down and broke off the screw that makes the switch. After hearing the sidestand rub the pavement a couple times I promptly replaced that screw. On another note. Some earlier bikes, the Daytona and the Quota, for instance, have a different screw upon which the sidestand pivots. This screw has a doohickey that sticks up and puts a bend in the spring such that as soon as you lift the bike the sidestand pops up. Your bike looks nice. I wonder where I can get my covers painted red or possibly gold.

That's how it is, though I think it would be better not to have this auto thing and cut that screw out on mine,Yes I have to be very carefull everytime I get on the bike and lift the stand up.
