Greece for one is amazing, I spent some time on Crete touring the palace of King Minos, pretty amazing how advanced those civilizations were

how cold is "didn't seem to be overly cold"?   mid single figures centigrade but not freezing

 

any idea on the age of the obelisk? The house is described as Queen Anne (1701-1714) I would have guessed at 18C anyway as that seemed to be the era of landscaping and follys etc

 

From before the Norman invasion? It would appear not

 

The Normans were French, weren't they?
