Guest Nogbad Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Tonight I arranged to pay for the new Buell, so the deed is done. I have decided to go for the adventurous approach of going to Edinburgh to collect it. Seemed kind of wimpy to have it delivered in a van...... Frostbite here I come.....
v50man Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Buy an oil filter while you're at the dealer and change that oil at 1,000 miles!!!!!! Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paul Minnaert Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 getting salt on the bike at a first ride, not my idea, you never get it clean again. It goes everywhere.
Guzzirider Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Cover the exposed parts in some Scottoiler anti- corrosive spray before you depart. I use this on my V11 and it keeps it looking good even after regular winter salt baths. If you need to stop for a cuppa on the way back you are welcome to stop off here in 'Uddersfield. Guy

richard100t Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 What color did you decide to go with? I think I voted for red lol
Alex-Corsa Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 I'll never ride in weather conditions with even the slight chance on meeting frost somewhere.!!! As I was out a couple of day ago s**t happened and the bike(me on) went over ice , resulting slide crash.Slow on speed but damagehappened as I'll need a clutch lever repacement (anyone knows where can I get one in nice price?-fast) and the left motor cover that though it seems to be intact, i is cracked inside and creats an head oil leak. Will try odering one.I think that there is no possible repair for it, smal crack can only be seen when the cover is taken out. And be carefull in cold eniroments. Better don't ride and leave bravery for other times P.S. the rossopuro sliers are on first priority to order. I was going to get them sooner or latter
robbiekb Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 i think ya'll are a bunch of pussies hahahahahaha NOT really coz i don't ride in the rain any more either BUT.... back in the day I rode my XBR500 come rain ,snow or shine from Anstruther to Dundee and back every day, about 100 miles. the trick was always just to ride as relaxed as possible, which is easier said than done when you're plowing through several inches of snow with street tires. Good job we dont get much of that now in Southern California.

I always carry spare pattern brake and clutch levers- I bought them from Agostinis for about a third of the price of genuine Brembo levers. Guy
g.forrest Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 its abought the same for rear tires, ain't it . 5000 km per unit. Also buy chain and sprocket kit, My mate next door has 30,000km=6 belts.Kind of costly but you'll have fun. 76309

No need to switch to a messy chain.

g.forrest Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 ''belt good for a life time'' they've said that before.. ie 2004. The n ew belts are vastly improved -- larger teeth, etc. Said to be good for a lifetime. No need to switch to a messy chain. 76332
