Repaint V11S, which color?

Hi,

I'm thinking about repainting my plain black 2000 V11S naked that lime green anniversary color, charcoal metallic or the later Rosso Mandello (candy red :notworthy: ). And if I'm going to change the color of the bike, I was thinking about different "custom" lettering. With either hand pinstriped lettering or retro/vintage moto guzzi decals underneath the clear.

I guess this will be a poll of sorts but, what is the most desirable color on these bikes. Not necessarily a stock color or for resale but, I'm just curious about what other owners think. I'm leaning towards the green since that was offered in 2000. And I'm not sure how the Rosso will look with my silver cases.

Anybody with custom painted V11 pics (I've already looked through the gallery)? Or dream V11 scenario. Ideas?

Yeah, it's a classic for sure. I'm just getting bored of black, it doesn't help when your car is black too!

Maybe I'll just change the decals and add alittle pinstriping.

That Rosso red is very nice :2c: . It would look fine with the silver cases imo. Any color you really like is the right color, after all its your bike, you have to wash it lol. The nice thing is there isnt that much to paint, I personally like when the tailpiece matches the tank all one solid color but thats just me.

Yeah, yeah it's black now.

I keep going back to that green, though. I don't know why I really like it. I agree though, all one color. Not sure that I'm into these semi-gloss/flat colors that they're doing now either, on the new bikes. Finishing is expensive but, come on nobody wants to pay $12-14K for a "primered" bike do they?

Take acouple thousand off the sticker and I can do that myself with some krylon in my backyard!

Do you know how many they made green in 2000? I think it was supposed to be a special edition anniversary color but, it seems like they're pretty common. Then again what moto guzzi isn't a "special edition", they're all pretty rare. LOL!

Go for the green that an awesome color! I am having my rosso corsa repainted because the red on the fairing didn't match the red on the tank (fairing is made of black plastic and the tank is made from white plastic) color match was horrible. Anyway I was seriously condidering a green lemans but wasn't brave enough stuck with a bright red.

Didn't the Rosso come with a carbon fiber front fairing?

It's simple really, ANYTHING BUT :ninja: BLACK !!!

you're right, why have a beautiful bike in primer?? and your "natural" cases are beautiful with ANY colour!! .......... :2c: l always thought that the un-painted cases were the best as they really bring out that big V11 !!, plus no black paint to bubble and turn grey :(

Red is a colour that goes naturally with an ltalian machine, chrome yellow?? ....never seen one, but could be neat..........aww, what the hell, ANY colour is good, just not flat (matte) black :D

:bier:

Cheers

The black is certainly a very nice color for the V11, with it's nice rolling body shapes. The V11 will certainly be known for that original green which whether you like it or not, you have to agree it's what got the attention of the motorcycling world, as a worthy cosmetic predecesor to the legendary V7 Sport Limited.

Last year in California I spotted an extremely rare dark navy blue 1100 Sport. It was "gobsmacking" beautifull. The gold lettering of the namesake, and the gold decal eagle just looked SO RIGHT!. I statred at the thing for 10 minutes just walking around it. I've often thought what a navy blue V11 Sport would look like. That color has transformed the look of the Yamaha FJR 1300, which while grey was a yawner. This color would look incredible on a V11. If mine was not green, I would have changed it already.

Ciao, Steve G.
