Guzzirider Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Just watched the French TV programme Party Cycle on Motors TV where they tested a couple of Sport Classics. They looked great in action on twisty French roads, but both testers complained about the uncomfortable riding position. I hope Ducati sell loads- the company is not doing well and they need some success. Guy
DeBenGuzzi Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 I can understand why, their bikes go like bats outta hell but so do jap bikes and jap bikes are usually more comfy and a darn bit cheaper. Ducati needs slightly raised bars just higher clip-ons and a cooshie seat would be nice. The 749/999 I sat on'em both feel the same, rock hard ducati always seems to have lots of niggles too for a first bike niggles are fine for a second I want NO issues whatsoever. I got enough issues with my goose, and myself.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 I may be mistaken but I seem to remember when they came out with the prototypes there was a GT model with a plain saddle suitable for pillion use and a set of standard handlebars. That might be a nice option for the Sport.
Ouiji Veck Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Ducks are absolutely wonderful and the fit and finish is the best there is but they're made for one thing...attack. attack attack. Which is fun...but not ALL the time. Gearing them down helps alot but it's no contest with the GRUNT of a V11....and you can do as much attacking as you'd ever want. Anybody want a 900ss cheap?
robbiekb Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 I can't remember how tall Ingrid is, but the seat height of the Classic Sport is very tall at 31 inches. This makes the bars feel even lower. Mike 77387 yeah it's going to need some work there. She tried it out for size at Laguna Seca this last year and was fully stretched to the bars and tiptoeing it. So most likely before she picks it up, they'll lower the suspension and add bar risers. She's only 108 pounds or so now, so softening the ohlins up a bit might be in the cards as well for a future project once she gets the chance to figure out how she likes it. ..or i could nick that front end for my V11
DeBenGuzzi Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 ..or i could nick that front end for my V11 77441 Spoken like a man. Just think of the favor you'd be doin'er. and at 108 how does she even lift it upright to raise the side stand? my girl is 118 and I swear she can't even life the flywheel I mean wtf? but seriously she's so weak its appauling. and I must say a chick with her own general bike is +1 hot points, if its a harly or standard cruiser then its usually -3 unless she's on the back flashing ppl +1, her own crotch rocket is +2 I work out stupid graphs in my head with all my spare time. my friends and I came up with a list of first dates depending on the type of girl, going no where or one night was white castle, couple nights taco bell, I'll spare you the details but you see where I'm going with this. (minus the arrow and the "with")
