Perpetual Paint Problems

Hi Jaap,

no it is still the old desing.

At the moment it not looking too awful because most bubbles disappear when the engine is cold.

But I fear that it will get worse.

The bike was too expensive for that!

I have the exact same problem on my 2000 V11 but its silver on silver so you cant see it much.

Wow Jim, that's the first I've heard of this problem on a silver-engined bike. I wonder if this will still happen on the new "smooth" black paint?

 

The truth is, over time it's almost inevitable that the paint will slough off on an air-cooled motor. It happened on my FJ, but it took 10 years to really get bad .... not 6 months That's the difference. And of course with the black paint, it's much more noticeable. Maybe that's why, if some silver bikes have been losing paint, we haven't heard much about it. It might not be that obvious.

 

 

 

So Jaap, your idea for a survey form sounds excellent.
