I think that put me off as I couldn't get time off work for that day. Antonio, this is different than the Round Britain Rally. I've not done this one before. I'm also weekend off that weekend. I might just be able to get the weekend of family duties to participate.

Martin Barrett Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Martin - could we follow you between checkpoints please 78066[/snapback] It's not fair making fun of the afflicted. But I'll wait for you at the finish. You can come with me from Spean Bridgewhen I sneak out at 0630am if its like last year will do 630 miles and be back at the hotel at 8:30pm. To practice for the National we can always wear sunglasses to simulate darkness
Martin Barrett Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Here's three links to previous rally reports. Note the format changes slightly. http://www.motorbikestoday.com/features/Ar...trally_gold.htm http://www.elam.34sp.com/Articles/Article_BMF_Rally_2002.htm This one even mentions a Guzzi. http://www.docsarah.demon.co.uk/rally2000.htm
DVH Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 they did a seperate special test but some of it was offroad and quite afew riders refused due to the risk of damage. last few years have got easier, co-ordinators have been concerned over people having accidents through the night so there is a short day run. Martin the mileages aren't far between the checkpoints 25--35 miles as the crow flies, restrictions of 200 miles then a 1 hour break must be taken. hopefully the instructions will be better this year, last year one of the check points was at a sailing club near a small village, I don't think the village was too impressed with bikes going through all night long
Martin Barrett Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 The Entry Form forms via PDF are available to down load along with Regulations Despite being on Days off that weekend, There is a leave embargo because of the Football World Cup. There are two semi finals for the 1st July. I run the risk of having my day off cancelled at short notice should England make it to that stage. They'd have to win their pool over Sweden,Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago. To play on that day. I'll think I'll run the risk. They were allready looking for change of duties for one of the days I've allready got booked off for one of the rallies. But I'm okay as my leave stands.
Guzzirider Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Fame at last Martin- not only do you have an article in Gambalunga, you have a photo in the club write up section too. Next stop Hello magazine! Guy
Martin Barrett Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 The entry list is available on line. 6 Guzzis out of 435 entrys. I'm no 182. I couldn't see YOUR name on it.
Martin Barrett Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 In amongst the entry list I can see (at least) one other member of this board. The control matrix arrived last week and rather than concentrate on my German route planning I poured over it. To obtain a Special Gold award the following criteria must be met. Start at an Outer control (two letters) The spurs are start point only. Only travel between controls conected Not allowed to revisit a control Eight or more outer controls No more than 275 outer control miles Grand total of 540 miles (other awards are less total but definatly no more) Finish at 99 There are a couple of typos the missing milage between PE & SB is 25 there are two 08s - the one between 07 &04 should be 09. I found my route 24 points including start and finish and 540 miles. (you'll have to wait till after the event before I post it up- I know you can hardly wait ) I'm starting at SV as thats where I live.
Martin Barrett Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 This is happening now. But not for me. A DNS due to my charging issues This was my proposed route and this is how it would have looked on a map Well there's allways next year. On the plus side I've spent the day with my family and have been to two school summer fayres
