Guzzirider Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Looks nice, Guy. Aluminum polishes up very nicely. Did you do anything to it to prevent the inevitable oxidation that attacks raw aluminum with a vengeance? 79012 Cheers Ratchethack Well that was nearly a year ago, and Helen has ridden that bike in all weathers and there has been no oxidation at all- the only thing I do is wax them whenever I clean the bike. Guy
Guest ratchethack Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Guy, that's what I was lookin' for! What kind of wax are you using that stands up to the heat of exhaust?
Guzzirider Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Autoglym- not sure if it does stand up to the heat of the exhaust, but I also use Scottoiler F365 spray in the winter on all the cycle parts which keeps 'em corrosion free. Roads are salted more or less permanently from November to March here. Guy
Guest ratchethack Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I'd say that's one hell of a testimonial! Many thanks!
Guzzirider Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 This is the magic stuff! http://www.scottoiler.co.uk/mcn.asp
Frenchbob Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 This is the magic stuff! http://www.scottoiler.co.uk/mcn.asp 79041 It is good. I used it when I lived in the UK on bikes I rode over the winter, and it works [My Triton survived two winters of salted-roads riding, mainly because of it - pic taken after such abuse]. The film washes off quite quickly, so you have to keep re-applying it. It also protects outdoor wood!
Frenchbob Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 That's one sweet Triton Bob!! Rj 79057 Thanks, Ryan: you're a man of taste and discrimination! I would bore you with many details but I'm a Triton obsessive and we haven't got all night...and this is a Guzzi forum!
