I really like the older white face gauges with the eagle on the gauges, so is it possible to change the black face gauges from a 2003 v11 le mans and replace them with the older white face ones, or does anyone know where I can get white overlays? Is there any difference in quality between the gauges? thanks.

they are a different make. Also the speedo has a different gear ratio. So unless you change all speedo related things, including gearbox parts, you won't be happy.

The older (Veglia) white face gauges have known problems:

Condensation in the tach.

Fading colour on the needles.

Trip reset knob that regularly falls out and gets lost.

Some reported unreliability.

I also understand that the speedo ratio is different on early Veglia bikes compared with the later ITI black face bikes.

Whether there is a difference in quality is anyone's guess. I have heard of ITI gauges going down. The Veglia ones on my bike work fine, although I have lost 2 trip reset knobs, the needles are fading and there is a haze of condensation in the tach.

Is it worth it for a couple of little eagles? I think the ITI gauges look more modern and sporting. The Veglias would be more at home on a cruiser.

Somebody makes white overlays for the older guzzi instruments, but they may work for the iti gauges, take a look at guzzitech.com I think its in there somewhere.

Since it has come up, why does my tach have condensation? It is never in the rain (like it rains in So Cal!) and garaged.............

Plus, I don't take a hose to it when I clean it!

Thanks for the input in advance.

I just wish mine wouldn't fog up, have fading hands or tell me the wrong speed. I'd like to get the newer black dails but then have the white veglia faces put in. THAT'd be somethin. Or replace the whole thing with a small LCD setup of some kind. :huh2:

I live in a wet area Carl and my tach also fogs up. A possible solution to this problem has come up in other threads ( HERE).

It requires drilling a 1/4" hole in the bottom of the tach...only the metal, outside part, NOT the inner plastic.

Rain is predicted here on the California northcoast over the next few days so I think I'll take the opportunity to pull the fron fairing off my Le Mans and deal with mine. :luigi:

Seems like California would be one of the least likely places to get humidity in the tach. Yet, maybe you live by a marina, park on the dock with a cover on the bike?

My tach has never fogged ( either of them) . Perhaps tachs made later in the day got more Chianti spilled in them . . . :drink:
