Frenchbob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I charged a couple of batteries.Having lashed up a battery form a couple of small batteries, I hope that they will start the new old bike and I'll go out for a ride in the rain. I feel this is the start of reminders about the diabolical aspects of older bikes. The seat and whole rear of the bike hinges up at the end of the frame, so as soon as it opens, the number plate hits the back tyre and the seat can't be lifted more than a few inches! Good job that I'm squeezing two small batteries in rather than a full-size one. Can't quite understand why this wasn't attended to a long time ago. I feel a bodge coming on. 81861 It's an MG 750S or S3 and I claim my point......Jaap, I gottanutherpoint!!!! Welcome to the brotherhood of small-big engine lovers. Er, I am right, aren't I? Shit, this could be embarrassing......
belfastguzzi Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Sorry no...but I do have other smokeless fuels............ 81869 I've got you down as an anthracite man.
Frenchbob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Point? I know you're there......... You just don't want me to have another point, do you? You're jealous of the one I've got, aren't you? Go on admit it.

Ouiji Veck Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Finally the week end to put old man winter in his grave and doing the pre flight walk around Fri. night I find my throttle cable pretty far gone down by the TB cam. Rats! ...Ok ...looks like it can make the 45 minute ride to the shop...I could be there by nine..throw it on there...though it looks like I'll have to remove the tank. OOOoops Wait a minute...it's a Guzzi...I'll have to call first...get there by ten. They must have a cable for an 02 in stock....hmmm...maybe not. Long look @ the Duc that hasn't been started since July. I'll sleep on it..Up and in the Garage @ 6:30. Better put a little charge on the Duc battery...just in case...do a pre flight. Tires real low...chain nothcy...needs oil. Compressor needs a fitting...go to wall mart for compressor fitting and give the battery rack a look...hope against hope...run into a rider friend who says "Bennys right next door has lots of Bike batteries...got one for mine there." Oh well..it's right next door...Wow...they have one listed for the Duc! Ok...I'm in buisness...WRONG! Take the hoplessly wrong battery back to Bennies...Run back home , Call shop for Guzzi throttle cable. "We don't keep any Guzzi parts in stock...but I can BACK ORDER it for you" (This with new ones on the floor!) Was he being funny? I wasn't laughing.. OK... back to the Duc. I've been waiting all winter for today. 75 mi to meet my good riding buddies and watch the Daytona 200. Duc is going no where...battery IS kaput... Considering battery box remodeling...I'm riding today dam it! Back to Bennys with measuring tape....no friggin' way.... Back home...10:30. Standing in my garage with 3 motorcycles muttering "What the F@#$!" Then a light comes shining in on my Guzzi....I rip the seat off...measuring tape in hand... FoooooBahhhhh....yip yip yip...150 back road miles on my good little Duc. Now...where to get a cable ......and maybe I better not sell the Duc.
belfastguzzi Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 What bike is it? 81864 Hi Big I'm kinda waiting for Jaap to officially confirm that this question counts as a Quiz. Points are points, after all.
belfastguzzi Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I've started a quiz thread on his bike 81897 Oh right. That's handy. Unfortunately I've got to dash, so no time to answer just now.
v50man Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 325 FAST miles on the Firebolt (which is disparagingly called the "Fireplace" by my "friends" at Atlanta Triumph Ducati). 70+ degrees in ATL. Perfect.
pete roper Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Pictures? 81877 I snapped a few, mainly of our bike and our pit but I think I've got a few others too. Rob's mate Guy was there having some fun on his V4 Yammie 2 stroke which was a whole load of laughs! After we sorted an annoying self-inflicted ignition problem we had a grand old time. I'll try and post the pic's up on wildguzzi, simply because I think I've figured out how to do that. If anyone wants to link them to here that's fine by me, I'm just too spud-thick to do it! Amazing seeing the Cammies being given the trot by the ES3, (was it the ES3? I was otherwise engaged?) It's amazing what you can do with oddles of cash and a lot of time Good to meet Morris and Mr. Forrest Pete

g.forrest Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 ''true a bike on show in show and shine?? there were bikes like z 900 cb 750 k2. that looked as good as they did in showrooms, and appeared on inspection to be genuine. low km. but thats what ya get with s & s, not necessarily bikes that are ridden..prizes put away to the big day...and maybe a trophy. [motorbikes were made to be ridden] The true crime is not of colour, but of the relationship between bar and peg.Knowing how a bike with these contact points will feel, my review is not positive. 81964
g.forrest Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 [''it was a great weekend pete, pleased to have met you.it was a pity though that there was not a guzzi there to even challenge the bmw which i must admit though gave the 750 belt cam ducati a run for its money.ps i liked your vert looks a real motorcycle workhorse. ciao. gazza .quote=pete roper,Mar 13 2006, 12:14 PM] I snapped a few, mainly of our bike and our pit but I think I've got a few others too.
