Guest WildJackal Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 My perfectly running bike begins to stumble and miss after a short fifteen minute stop. I fear I am suffering from the dreaded vapor lock/fuel boil problem. I read the various threads and then started looking for heat shielding solutions. This reflective heat shield blanket with a ceramic inner pad sounds promising to me. Reflective Heat Shield Blanket My thought is to use the blanket to wrap the fuel pump and as much of the fuel line as possible, frame tube and all. The blanket would form an open cylinder so air could still flow through, front to back. My fuel line runs under the throttle cable and is therefore quite close to the left cylinder. I want to replace it with some heat shielded fuel line and run it over the throttle cable and as close to the upper fame (and blanket) as possible. What do you think? I have a concern that the outer metal cover might transmit heat to the bottom of the gas tank.
TX REDNECK (R.I.P.) Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Vapor lock has not been a problem with Tonti bikes as far as I know.
Cliff Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I've seen the air temperature sensor being affected by engine heat, showing 50C +. This will cause the bike to run 5 to 10% leaner. You might try relocating that. It should be under the tank near the front.
