Guest aironepony Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Never mind global warming, we’re sitting on a time bomb. Today I saw a TV programme that told me that we are all on the edge of extinction. It’s Yellowstone Park. It would seem that it could go at any time as a super eruption taking most of the USA with it. They said that the last big event of this magnitude was about 75,000 years ago in Sumatra. It threw the planet into a catastrophic state thus bringing dear old Homo Sapiens to the very brink of extinction. Some very clever scientists have independently explored mitochondrial DNA and coincidentally discovered that our species came to near extinction about 75,000 years ago. The numbers they calculate dropped to the tens of thousands at that time. So there you are. Enjoy it whilst you can………..

helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Ahhhh! if we could speed up the movement of the earths crust then the hotspot under Jellystone park would be under a thicker spot of the earhs crust and we would have nothing to worry about. There is a made for TV movie about the park erupting and it is actually entertaining. I'll not bother commenting on how real it could be.
