rocketeer Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Hi All, Picked up a top clamp , drilled holes and installed bar clamps. Removing original top clamp and stopped. Is there a trick to getting that center cover over the hex nut off? Does it just pop off or screw off? Thanks in advance
Guest ratchethack Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Pops right off with a "push-tight" interference fit. EDIT: As I recall, there's no need to take it off, the triple-clamp will come off with it in place...
callison Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Pop it off with a very small flat blade or jewelers screwdriver.
rocketeer Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 Hi All, Got it!! I don`t know how that center cover comes off on other models but on my `02 LeMans it unscrews (counter-clockwise) and must be removed in order to lift off the top clamp. I even phoned a dealer (who shall remain anonymous) that also said to pry it off. Thank you all anyways. Does anyone have a set of clip-ons for sale from an earlier model where they attach below the top clamp? Grazzi, ciao
