The salesman is talking bollocks- the Ballabio is a nice bike but makes the same power as other V11s i.e. 75 to 80 bhp at the rear wheel.

Don't let that put you off though.

Oh the power numbers certainly don't make it seems weak. I'm sure though that if I rode the Ballabio over the Le Mans, the ride would have been a little better then! The more upright seating position seemed to be much more comfortable when going in a straight line than the LM. As for turning, I was certainly not used to leaning over that much, but I got used to it. Maybe naked bikes like the Ballabio, Monster and Tuono are going to the bikes to get in the future.

As for the power, I knew that the engine didn't make that much power, so I was really sceptical about what he told me. I had more along the lines imagined a power of around what you Guzzirider. Still, I imagine that over 100 hp at the rear wheel isn't to difficult to do, or am I also speaking bollocks? hehe

The Ballabio certainly seems to be a really excellent choice for my next bike. I just can't wait until the time comes!

Not easy but possible if you have lots of cash- probabaly best to read the thread entitled "V11 Modifications - Opinions?" which may enlighten you.

I've recently done some an insurance quote for the 97 Sport 1100i and one brand, McGraw Insurance, was going to charge me like $1165 a year, full coverage, for the bike.  That is almost as much as my Saab!  Are there any riders here, in the states, that use someone different and provide a reasonable price?

I will not and refuse to use Progressive and Geico, because the former will charge me about $2500 for a Monster 620 and the latter with charge me about $1100 for the same Duc!  Farmers was going to charge me a pretty decent price for another bike I was looking into, but I haven't asked about the Duc or the Guzzi yet.

Is there an insurance agency you guys/gals would recommend?

State Farm charges me $242 every 6-months for full 50/100/50 coverage here in Arkansas.

I love my Sport 1100. That Sporti looks like a good one.

It depends on the type of riding you're going to do. If you're mainly gonna cruise around KC with your motorcycle, don't get the Sporti, the upright seating position of the Monsters will be better. The Sport 1100 is geared tall, has a stiff clutch, and has a very committed seating position

On the other hand, if you're going to use it to ride South into the Ozarks for some weekend fun, or at the occaisional track day, the Sporti will be great fun.

If you've ever sat on an old Ducati 748/916/998 then you have an idea of the seating position you'll find on a Sport 1100.

I have owned my carb'd Sport 1100 since March 1997. I have ridden it to the AHRMA races in Park City, to the beach, lots of track days, and lots of Ozarks back roads. It has the most character of any bike I've ever owned. I had to learn to ride this motorcycle the way it wants to be ridden. Once I did that the payoff was huge. My Sport 1100 was great fun at Barber's in Birmingham!

I actually can't get the Sport 1100i anymore because someone put a downpayment on the bike the day before I came up to give it a ride. I did get to ride a Le Mans though and that was alot of fun. Definitely a very committed riding position, like you said. But after riding it, I felt like I needed something more upright, then I sat on the Ballabio they had on the showroom floor. Much more comfortable, better looking instruments and the same huge tank that I want in a bike. Plus, it is only $600 more than the Le Mans I test rode. So, if the finances and insurance will allow it, the Ballabio might just be my next bike. But that is going to be a ways off, unless the lottery fairy does something nice for me.

Believe it, or not, the LeMans feels like a Cadillac when compared to a Sport 1100. Sport 1100 bars are below the triple clamp. At least 2-inches lower than those on a Lemans.

I'd like to have a Ballabio/Cafe Sport/Coppa Italia, but the Nero Corsa came along and stole my heart.

A bike with regular bars, like the Ballabio, will definitely make a better all 'rounder...
