Guest randy Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 i'm not going to elaborate on how long i've been lusting for a Guzzi- needless to say it's been a very, very long time. anyway ...Finally! she's a little rough around the edges and perhaps a little tired, but she's a 2002 Moto effin' Guzzi Lemans in champagne, she's beautiful- and she's all mine. yeah, this is one happy camper. it's been a while since i've been on a serious road bike, so i've got my own "riding legs" to nurture back, and a new machine to learn all the intimate behaviors of ...all of which i have just barely the patience to muster (oh, that ENGINE! hubbah!)(pardon this juveline enthusiasm). always lived in the Seattle area. i come from the saddles of old suzuki GSes, honda CBs, interceptors ninjas goldwings AND ...a few scooters. hah. don't knock the scooters (they're a constant source of Hoot). -but none have ever had the endearing Character of this LeMans kudos and mad props out to Dave and Moto International. these peeps rawk. 'nuff said for now. hope to find you freaks out there- in a good way.
Ouiji Veck Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Ha! Your love affair is just starting. I've got the same LeMans...I'ts just the best (most fun) bike I've ever had in 35yrs of riding..and I've had some fun ones. Better get on the niggling gremlins...relays, clutch and kickstand switches tank suck...just to get started. It's all here in the forum. We can use all the juveniles we can get. I'm tired of seeing 40 somethings winning "youngest rider" @ all the rallys!
Guest randy Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 hah thanks! but alas, i'm just another 40-something (only the "gushing" was juvenile), apparently smack in the middle of V11 ownership demographic (forum poll). heh... gremlins? yes i'm keeping an eye out, but since this girl has 23k brisk commuter miles, and was regularly poked and prodded by the gurus at Moto Intl', they may well have already been addressed. cheers,
Martin Barrett Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Sounds like she will be fully sorted. There's nothing wrong with worn around the edges if you don't mind. It means you can spend more time riding and less cleaning especially when its cold. Mine will never be bike of the month, But it does mean it's not the end of the world if she picks up another little scuff or scratch. I was less than pleased when I got my first. I still love her and I'm a little tatty around the edges also.
Guest randy Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 HAH exactly! like we're not all a little tattered around the edges. thanks for the open reception, this forum rawks!
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 HAH exactly! like we're not all a little tattered around the edges. thanks for the open reception, this forum rawks! 84909 Careful or we will think you are related to Enzo!! We miss you Enzo .......
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 No, we don't! 84914 Ok. We miss him but it doesn't mean we want him back!! More like we are at the gun range and we .... miss him?
Guest randy Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 wait. what? who is this Enzo character, what have i done to bring on these associations, and who must i kill to restore my honor? Careful or we will think you are related to Enzo!!We miss you Enzo ....... 84912
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 wait. what? who is this Enzo character, what have i done to bring on these associations, and who must i kill to restore my honor? 85029 Why Enzo, of course, and lucky for you Enzo lives in Seattle. However as he sometimes seems to be larger than life (whether in his own mind or otherwise) I doubt it will be possible to kill him.
Martin Barrett Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 who is this Enzo character, 85029 It's a part of V11Lemans.com folklore. Only a few can remember those dark and terrifying days where the board was stalked by Captain Nemo armed with the fastest V11 in the American North Wet (sic) which empowered with it's Cobra exhaust and anti stealth paint could almost crack Mach 1 as recorded on its bicycle computer. There were titanic struggles between Captain Nemo and the champion of moderation. Eventually Captain Nemo was unmasked and his mild mannered alter ego Enzo came to the fore. Attempting to beguile as the voice of reason. But Captain Nemo wasn't banished. He gathered his disciples about him on the Rolling Crows forum. He would make occasional return visits. But all things change and Captain Nemo was enslaved by a monster a Honda RC51 he tried to tame and called "Krypto" and drifted even further away from the light. This Krypto was so powerful and fast it could fold time. But again things change and now the Rolling crows have been disbanded becoming the Dead Crows where they can talk about taking over the world through the subjugation of time itself. Enzo the grandmaster is attempting to control time, regathering his disciples through the manufacture of watches. He still has interests in motorcycles though. Our world is certainly different without him.
Frenchbob Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Well, Martin, I learned something new and bizarre again from the forum! It's better than wickiwhatsit! Whatever, Randy. Martin is right: a little bit used and scuffed is fine for a V11. Mine came to me in just this condition - nicely run-in and not so immaculate that I worry about which walls I lean it against outside which bars. Enjoy!
Guest randy Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Whatever, Randy. Martin is right: a little bit used and scuffed is fine for a V11. BUT, she could be much prettier! won't tolerate bare black (scraped) plastic for too long ...i've already commissioned my pal at the autobody shop to mix up some matching touch-up paint. cheers
