Guest scottd132 Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 I have had two transmission output shaft seals fail on my 2001 V11 sport in it's first 1200 miles of life. Has anyone seen this and found something magical that I can guide my dealer towards. The good news is I get that great smell of hot oil on the exhaust every time I come to a light. Thanks in advance! al_roethlisberger Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 ....hrmmm, dunno. But mine was just replaced as well during this last visit. Hopefully it won't go again. Is this a recurring problem for anyone else, or is Scott's experience unique? If not, as he inquires, is there a magic issue to avoid operationally(such as oil overfilling) or point-out to the dealer when replacing the part? al
Guest JohnInNH Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 Not that this is really the same, but I had a similar problem in my Dana 80 with leaking. 3 seals later it was still leaking. The dealer finally replaced the seal and the part that came through the seal (output shaft?). On inspection it was faulty. Maybe this is something to look at.
jsciullo Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 Scott- Have not had a problem with my 2000-V11. I have a little over 12k miles on it. Jim
