dlaing Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 What about titanium? http://www.yoyodyneti.com/category.aspx?categoryID=2692 91154[/snapback] Ouch! now that is getting pricey...but it might be worth it for unsprung weight. How does titanium compare to others??????? All I know is that it is lighter than SS or other steel.

I seriously doubt anyone would feel a perceptible difference in performance by changing steel fasteners to Ti on a V11. Like most carbon fiber bits (exhaust excluded), they are mainly bike jewelry. If you want real performance gains your money would be better spent at a gym to lose weight off your body, or at a track school to increase your riding skills.

But hey, then I didn't spend money and I did something healthy... I'd rather be (under the impression) to be real man-like and eat junk-food, drink beer and sit either on the couch or on my bike... (don't tell my wife, if she is around, off course I'm going to do the dishes, repair the fence etc... )
jtucker Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Titanium interests me because it won't rust like carbon steel, but it is stronger than stainless steel. The fact that it weighs something like half as much is just an added bonus. Ti is good for strength-critical applications where stainless normally isn't recommended - like brake caliper bolts. BTW, a friend of mine recently pointed me to this site: http://www.poggipolini.it/ Go there an download their catalog PDF... it's like fastener porn!

Would I be able to tell the difference? Heck I don't know, but the more you subtract, the better.
