That's riddiculous. It wasn't high, he wen't for the ball, he had no other yellow cards. Make up call. Plain and simple.

yeah right.

Pirlo was deep into his own part of the field facing the wrong way

so the tackle was totally uncalled for. And tackles with full force

against the wrist often cause serious injuries.

If you see nothing wrong with stunts like that, USA has no business

in football whatsoever :bbblll:

Just cut the numbers of teams in the world cup to raise the standard

France - Korea.

France have already opened the scoring thanks to Thierry Henri and seem to have found their form! At last!

France done out of a valid second by bad refereeing!

France played better but without heart, again,

instead of killing the match they played to control it

and of course Korea got their equalizer.

Brazil, again, didn't impress against Oz.

Weak performance from most of the big teams so far,

only Italy's first half against Ghana, the Czeck against USA

and most of all Argentina has impressed me.

So far, I think Argentina would be my pick for the cup.

Poor France, they got careless and then got mad. SK were not the most skilful team, but they play like robots to the whistle. The great strength of the Koreans and Japanese is that it makes no difference whether they are a goal up or down, or even several goals down, they just play as hard as they can till the end of the game.

That kind of determination is worth something against a technically better, but more erratic and emotional opponent.

I have watched only two games so far while I have been on my travels- watched England v Paraguay in an Irish pub, and the England v Trinidad and Tobago in a Dutch bar.

Both very average perormances by England but the right results- Sweden on Tuesday and we are historically poor against them so who knows what is going to happen?

It was interesting travelling around different countries seeing how each country was reacting to the competition.

In England there are St Georges flags everywhere, in Holland orange flags and balls, in Germany many flags too but in France there did not seem to be any open expression of support for the team.

The border controls were very strict in Germany- long queues as they checked each car going into the country for hooligans

.. but Isaksson should have taken that,

a moment of lost concentration and he fraction of a second too late.

:homer:

Paraguay vs Trinidad is 1-0 so right now Sweden vs England is just a match

too avoid Germany in the next round.

Germany beat Ecuador with 3-0

missed that match .. so I can't commented on that

Wow! 1-1 England/Sweden

Another mediocre England performance- I guess the draw was a fair result bearing in mind we dominated the first half and Sweden were much better in the second.

At least we have won the group and do not face Germany- although we must not underestimate Ecuador and I reckon the Swedes may upset the Germans.

Well I don't know a lot about the game (I'm a insular Yank and all). In fact I have to watch Spanish Telemundo as American's don't know how to broadcast the game let alone play it. But that was a great match, IMO. :bier:
