jihem Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I'm still in awe of Stoner and Pedrosa, and I'm quite happy for Nicky. 93250 i think Stoner is tomorrow's Champ. He is incredibly fast, but need to tune his braking which is a bit of a let down right now. His turn speed is awesome.
gthyni Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Dani Pedrosa, of course he is 2nd in the championship now, and bit more experience with 4-strokes and the new 800cc formula which suits him better than 999cc, he might even give Rossi a real run for the money next year. Valentino shows who is the boss, 8th when he shouldn't be able to ride at all. Ellison and Checa: sorry but Ellison is their because Dorna needs a brit on the grid Checa is there because he is one of the fastest men in the world. He has done a tremendous job this year, helping Dunlop develop a tyre that last more than 5 laps. the 9th place in Assen shows that they on the right track finally.
frogonwheels Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 YES NICKY!!!!!!! I see a # 1 plate in your future. 93295 Yo, from a frenchman who's been in the US for 25 years. De Puniet : don't even start there, an embarrassment for human kind ! Edwards : I like the guy. He's not up there with the best, but in Assen, he rocks. I wanted him to win, but his comeback on the last lap should go for the history book !!!! He did it by going 150%, it was crazy, but it was beautifull. I actually liked what happened, it showed us all how much on the line these guys are even with all the talks about electronic controls...... Hayden : He didn't come up the European ladder. He came as a super USA star a bit like Michael Andretti in F1. The difference, Michael left quickly his tail between his legs, but Nicky kept at it. This year, his third year, he's VERY good. I think he can actually challenge Rossi day in and day out. He won't show the true beauty of a Rossi, but he will show you talent and brain, juste like Prost in F1 . The way I see it, good luck goes with the best. Michael Schumacher is out of luck...because there is a new star in F1 . Rossi is not as good as before, more with bad luck...because of the pressure of the new guys. Go Nicky, and if you get the crown, wear it with pride. In the meantime, I believe GP racing is maybe in its best ever year. Ciao Terry
gthyni Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Randy DePuniet did have great fight with Ant West in the rain soaked 250 race in Donington last year. He was pushed onto the wet grass but managed to stay upright and went on to win the race. Great stuff This year he had crashed a lot and injured himself, but he is adjusting to the bike and I'm sure he will be on the podium some race next year.
g.forrest Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 kenny roberts jr won the crown, but who remembers which year! how many races did he win? was it one or two. by default doesn't make a true world champion and he's never been looked upon as such by most. but it is judged on who has the best score at end of season. based on this criteria i wish hayden well. he's a racer as is stoner, who want to win every round.

grossohc Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 Consistency wins world championships, Getting good results at every round and not neccesarily winning, if everyone else is binning it and your there picking up points you deserve it . Eddie Lawson is a good example. doing just enough to stay ahead of the pack (I think he won a championship only winning 1 or 2 races, Maybe it was none, cant remember). Gary

Gary 93324 Consistency makes boring, an "boring" wins no hearts and hurts the sport. Despite being called Steady Eddie he wons 31 races in 500GP He also won 4 titles: 1984 (4 wins) 1986 (7 wins) 1988 (7 wins) 1989 (4 wins) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Lawson

ALEX a good example.
Guzzirider Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 In the same vein, Kevin Schwantz only won 1 championship and everyone remembers him as a great hero because of his "win or bin" attitude. Randy Mamola never won a championship but he still gets big cheers just because of his bravado. Guy
Guest philbo Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I found this interesting quotable fact from Toby Moody on crash.net referring to the Spanish GP - "Just as an aside, it is a stunning speed that a MotoGP circulates Barcelona, but an even more mind bending sight is an F1 car circulating 29 seconds a lap faster. Twenty nine seconds. And in a car with 200bhp less in 2006 than 2005." I’m not sure why but this really surprises me
gthyni Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I’m not sure why but this really surprises me more rubber to the ground while breaking makes a huge difference on tracks with hairpins and sharp turns.
Orson Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 more rubber to the ground while breakingmakes a huge difference on tracks with hairpins and sharp turns. 93370 ...and cornering speeds. 250cc two-stroke gokarts lap Laguna Seca faster than 1000cc superbikes because of higher cornering speeds according to gokart racer Eddie Lawson. regarding consistency...Kevin Schwantz won 6 races in 1989 and finished...4th? I still can't figure that out
