mike wilson Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I called my dealer (great guys at motoprim) for the 999 they said between 600-1200 and thats with parts and everything(they mean oil change and so forth) so its not outrageous but its not cheap either by any means. My response to that would be that I wanted the heads servicing, not replacing. Outbleedingrageous. I really can't be arsed with all these dilletante machines. Sorry, it's excessively hot here. I'm going to lie in the refridgerator for a while....... m
Alex-Corsa Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 The dealer I was at had only a silver one and a yellow one, I would go with the yellow if I bought one. I could hear a nice roll on exhaust note as I flogged it through some twisties. waspp They (bmw) had a succsessfull yellow in their previus S bike. There is also a black model in ,that I preffer more cause it makes the shape of the bike smaler, well here are all the color combinations for this bike. Well, bikes are a matter of taste in all the aspects they give, I believe. I second thought about it cause of it's sporty character without being extreme , very atractive to me is the tech extras that this bike (as heared) has, like the abs , the fuel management , instuments and so on.It is reliable (I guess) I am not in a hurry to get a new bike but for sure something like this is on my wish list for a 2nd bike in the near future. The rest I have to see at my BMW dealer sooner or later if possible get a test ride. How would you compare it to the V11 in drivability (except the power advance of the BMW) in same roads and so on? Truth is that the design (as I see from fotos) isn't as inspiring as I would like (except the riding pos.) , but then again have to test ride it to see.
Greg Field Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Guzzisti, Thanks for that info. That helps me alot on prices. What is the difference in maintence costs between a Futura and an ST4? You seem familiar with Futuras, if you had to pick one (futura or ST4) which would you get? And why? Sorry to hijack this thread. Parvo 94063[/snapback] Parvo: I work at an Aprilia-Moto Guzzi dealership, so I absorb a bit of knowledge about the Aprilias by osmosis. You asked which I would buy. The answer is neither. The Ducati excites me, but I do not fit well on it. I am too tall. So, even though it is lovely looking and very fast and capable, I wouldn't buy it. The Futura does not excite me, but I fit well on it and love it for its amazing capabilities as a high-speed touring bike. Maintenance would be less on a Futura, especially if you could check valve adjustment yourself. Almost never do they actually need adjusting, but you really should check them at the specified intervals. Other than that, it is a "change fluids, filters, chains, and sprockets" kinda bike, whereas the 4v Ducatis require periodic silliness like changing base gaskets and such, pre-emptively, or so I have been told. Of all the new bikes, the Griso interests me the most, followed closely by the Buell Ulysses.

The wheel does come up rather easy but is somewhat unpredicable like it came up when I didn't want and wouldn't when I tried would need more experience with that, and it shakes like a paint mixer even at speed the vibes are worse than anything the V11 ever dished out. by all means try it first but I'll wait till I can get one for cheap down the road for a toy, but not a long haul cross sport they are going for. I also really like the griso, but the 850

It may have been an adjustment issue I didn't get to play with it for very long. It was fun to ride for sure (especially the lower rpm power) but I didn't at all feel like getting back on my Rosso Corsa was a step down...maybe sideways? Didn't know about the black the shop where my son works has only had the silver and yellow so far, and only one of each currently in the showroom. waspp
