Ballacraine Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Our status with the EU is a sore point actually. We are only associate members or some such. Basically what it means is we get all of the hassle and undemocratic laws ( as we have no direct elected representative there ) without any of the benefits! <_> Nige.
QuatroValvole Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Isle of Man - been looking at it since Nige and Pete raised its status, makes very interesting reading, especialy in conection with the EU. I'll be bringing my steady date over in August to see the IOM GP. It'll be our first time there. We're really looking forward to seeing some of those three legged cats.
Ballacraine Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Manx Grand Prix. It is basically the amateur version of the TT. It is quieter than the TT apart from all the classic bikes rumbling about! No..... us lot are all three legged ... The native cats don't have any tails. Nige.
Guest ratchethack Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 The native cats don't have any tails. Nige - I've always wondered about the Manx cats. Have they evolved this way after so many years of getting 'em run over in the GP and TT?!?! Enquiring minds just gotta know!
Guest Nogbad Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Subsidies and grants. 94686 Pah! Real economies manage without. Socialist claptrap. Why would you want to have your money taken in tax, and then some of it given back minus the cost of the EU gravy train?

We get all of the disadvantage with no perks to offset it.

Enquiring minds just gotta know! 94714 LOL No. Although it is potentially a factor. Genetic defect. Interbreeding. There are two main variants, the No Tail and the Stumpy. Both have larger than normal hind quarters. Nige.
Guest ratchethack Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 . . . . it is potentially a factor. Genetic defect. Interbreeding. There are two main variants, the No Tail and the Stumpy. Both have larger than normal hind quarters. Nige. Thanks. I think that explains it. If y'er tail kept getting run over by the nutters blistering across the countryside like the bleedin' clappers with their hair on fire - along with short tails or none altogether, I reckon you'd tend to develop a substantial hind quarters that could spring you out of the way on fairly short notice . . . . . . . Presumably, the only alternative would be to become a grease spot on the tarmac, and thereby jerk y'er genes out o' the gene pool entirely . . . . . . . I always thought the Manx cats looked like jackrabbit genes fell into the gene pool somehow 'er other. . . . . .

Where is a Real economy? Shang Hai, Calcutta??? enquiring minds need to know.

Then you socialists will be laughing on the other side of your faces.

Guest Nogbad Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 OK I will answer the damn question! There is no pure market economy at present. I don't deny that some level of regulation is necessary and desirable, but in the EU and the US, it is not an ideal balance, and there is too much "pork barrel" politics. If you want a couple of examples where they are at least trying to avoid the evils of progressive taxation and over-regulation try Estonia and Lithuania, where the idea of "flat tax" has taken root. I think these countries will become very successful in the future. I don't want to talk about China and India as these countries simply pay lip service and no more to any kind of environmental or social responsibility and they are not really democratic in any true sense. In India the majority are disenfranchised by a lack of education and grinding poverty, and China is a totalitarian state. I think excessive transportation is wasteful and irresponsible, which makes globalisation bunk. We need to get back to smaller, more local, government and industry, and people's overall level of wasteful consumption needs to come down to a more sustainable level. At the same time, radical population reduction is essential. (I still don't accept the GW scare though)
Guzzirider Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I'm thinking that Guzzirider is probably headed your way – so he isn't here to see that he's been photo-insulted (above). Drat! He's hiring a lady's-bike and trolling around the West. For your sake, I hope that he doesn't mess with the gene-pool. BTW Is it possible to attach perfumed talcum powder to an internet post? I've only just read this post which BFG posted while I was on holiday- now I know why he has gone into hiding ever since I returned! Too late for my family to stop messing with the gene pool- some our family moved to California early last century so I am sure our DNA has spread! Ratchethack may actually be my Great great grandfather! Actually Ratchet why don't you join me for a night out around the pubs and clubs of Huddersfield and you can ask some of the gentleman who drink in the aforementioned establishments if indeed they are Nancy Boys? I am sure they will answer your question in quite some detail. Point taken though- all soccer players are nancys, especially if they cry! Guy
