KiloSjon Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 ...just watching Rambo's First Blood, a classic and oldschool, but nice to watch. What really frustrates me, is that I see Sly escaping from the police station on a XT500 which sounds like a 80cc two stroke. WHY?? In a lot of other movies they do the same, you then see a Duc999 that sounds like a cbr600 or a harley with 25 gearchanges (only upshifts). Especially in high speed chases, it sounds like crap. So Hollywood, listen: Stop making the movie silly by using the wrong bikesound samples, at least give us proper big bangs when we expect it! (Sly now has jumped from the cliff on a tree and is stitching himself, a lot more realistic then the F****ing sound of a moped under a proper oldschool XT500...) Any other examples? (Mission Impossible with the Triumph speedtriple, that wasn't a triple, etc etc)
Guest Nogbad Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Do you also look for zip fasteners in historical films and dramas??
KiloSjon Posted July 16, 2006 Author Posted July 16, 2006 Do you also look for zip fasteners in historical films and dramas?? I don't care on that one, also for the watches in Middle Age movies, no problem, but for me, if a ferrari V8 sounds like a Chevy or a Norton has the sound of a harley I just can't ignore...
antonio carroccio Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 I watch Erin Brockowich alias Julia Roberts, no sound but a lot of curve
g.forrest Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 looks like sight has gone euro..no beer emoticon. i'm right with you kilojson on this. it has allways pissed me off. like v twin with 2 stroke single sound etc.. ruins a movie for quality.
DeBenGuzzi Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 well then what was the triple in MI? I noticed it went from an onroad version to some sort of offroad modded one so seamlessly that anyone who likes bikes would notice in a second.
jihem Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 i was working in a recording studio specialised in advertising, a few years ago. We had to work on a Ducati commercial (for belgium only) and the AD (artistic director) and copywriter (these smart guys are always running by two) had that marvellooooooooooooous idea of having a man snoring in bed, dreaming of a ducati, and his noisy sound would be a motorbike sound. How clever i mentionned to them the fact that they were using were 4 in lines sounds . Didn't tell them how brave i thought their advertisment was....
Garsdad Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 In Rush Hour, Chris Tucker jumps on a Guzzi, and the sound coming from it has two too many cylinders making it. If they had any sense, they would use the Guzzi music for all other bike sounds!
mike wilson Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I was following a Rocket III on the motorway at the weekend. Sounded like a giant Hoover. On the overrun, it sounded like a giant, broken Hoover. Sad. m
gargoyle Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I like the commercial where the guy pulls up on a chopper with a Honda 750 engine but of course it sounds like a Harley with straight pipes.
soloNH Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 They do it because they don't know there is a difference. They live in "Hollywood fantasy land" What ticks me off is the missuse of gun sounds. A guy jacks a shell in a pump shotgun then they show him jacking in another 2 seconds later! What the @#!#$# is that? Or how about the guy who just shot a round with a semi auto pistol, then to enhance the scene the director or who ever, has the guy cock the gun to convince the next victum he is next. Oh and let's not forget the endless magazine capacity of machine guns and that a sofa will stop a full auto 9MM burst!!!
