This years Laguna Seca Moto GP promises to be one of the best (hardest fought) races of the season.

Nicky Hayden won it last year, Valentino didn't need to win it then. This year is different, the riders are more competitive and... Valentino Rossi NEEDS to win this race.

It will be broadcast this Sunday on Speed TV. It will also be shown a week from Sunday on ABC. Check your local listings. You don't want to miss watching this race. :food:

Happy trails, :bier:

I've got my money on Rossi - regardless of what anyone thinks of him, he knows how to win and can do so when he needs to (last weekend as an example). I've definitely noticed that Hayden does not let himself get pushed around (intimidated) as much this season but he still seems to have trouble riding in front - it will be a good race though.

I wish I was going :)

Rossi will win.

Hayden will podium.

Then its either Melandri or Pedrosa to also podium. Probably Melandri since he's experienced Laguna Seca last year.

Capirex is still recovering from his injuries, isn't he? He looked pretty good last weekend, but.....

I'd love to see Loris put it together one more time.

Excuse me, we forget Capirex here!

Rossi put a hex on him - he'll never win again - or was that Sete Gibernau?

GOTTA root for Nicky! So should all you other Americans!

Then there's Colin Edwards who took a second last year. Kenny Roberts Jr, who finally seems to be getting a bike that will run. John Hopkins is always a threat.

Hey, there's lots of 'Mericans to root for.

I happen to think it has nothing to do with my patriotism for whom I root for. It just promisies to be a good race.

Of course you can root for whomever you choose, but Nicky is the only American with a legitimate shot at the title. We'd LOVE to see an American World Champ, wouldn't we?

I just want to see a good race. But must admit I'd like to see Vale come back and clinch it :) A real life larger than life hero.

Vale is the undisputed King, that's why I'd love to see Nicky beat him, 'cause he won't be around forever!

I feel the same way about Ricky Carmichael as you do Vale, Martin. I think we shall see a great race!

I bumped into some of Michael Jordan's race team yesterday near Big Sur- every other bike was headed North and I was unfortunately heading away from the circuit back here to LA- I would love to stay and watch the race but have to fly home Sunday.

yea, it was Sete.

I heard Nicky on the radio today with Adam Corolla. I really like Hayden. The Seca track is the shortest GP track - only 1:24 to get around and you can't even get into 6th gear. Very tight and Nicky likes it. Hayden has really improved over last year. Last week he really closed the door on Pedrosa when P was trying to sneak in on him in a corner. A very bold and dangerous move. Nicky wouldn't have done that last year. He's learning. But, he still can't lead comfortably. He doesn't have the awesome winning confidence of the 'Doctor.'

I'm a huge Valentino fan as he is the undisputed KING. But this week I want the Kentucky Kid to win this one. Don't miss it. Also look for the famous 'Cork Screw' - it's a 60 foot sudden drop with a couple tight corners.....all this happening just after a blind hill.

I thought they'd re-surfaced the track and taken some of that drop out after the protests from last year. A bunch of the riders said it was just plain dangerous. From some of Rossi's comments on the yamaha racing site and the moto gp site he's assuming these changes plus data gathered from last years race will give him enough of an edge to win.

Maybe we should start a poll and see who picks the first three. Maybe a wager of some sort to make it interesting ...

Cheers

I dunno, Doug Chandler, former AMA Superbike Champion and local native (Salinas) rode the revised track and said he feared it may be MORE dangerous after the changes..........

Top 3, Nicky, Colin and the Doctor
