Paul Minnaert Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 It seems to be in italy, but no info is given on ebay, so anyone interested, first check with the owner what the story is. http://cgi.ebay.it/Moto-Guzzi-MGS-01-CORSA...1QQcmdZViewItem
Murray Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Can any of our Italian members can work out if this is legit or not? Bit hard to tell from the web translation.
Frio Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Here I am! Actually since there is not much more than just the raw specs, it is not really easy to determine if this is a scam or not. Other than the specs it just says "Limited edition model for track use only", and "Use on the road is not permitted". The specs are correct though... Frio
Murray Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Our Italian reading members got an update on this one did it sell forthe price listed or passed in?
Paul Minnaert Posted August 10, 2006 Author Posted August 10, 2006 maximum bid was 13000, and that wasn't enough for the reserv.
Murray Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 So its probally for real then might try and direct contact the person. Hope he reads english!!
Murray Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Ok through a friend of a friend I managed to contact the vendor. The vendor is after 30 000 euro for this particular bike we simply told them we weren't intrested. I didn't try and inform them what I thought the bike was actually worth language barrier etc etc. For peoples info at least.
DeBenGuzzi Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 I'd say he's about 10,000 eur's off there. Thats absurd. Weren't they 20something new? I'd really like to have one someday but that someday may never come if they make something more interesting
Paul Minnaert Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 in germany there is one new in stock in a shop at 23750. There are always golddiggers that think they make money on such bikes. the bike
Alex-Corsa Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 in germany there is one new in stock in a shop at 23750. There are always golddiggers that think they make money on such bikes. the bike Why gold digger this one?I mean, isn't it that the normal prce for the bike? You should see one other where he offered he bike 25K Euros and said he could do licence plate specs for another extra 6-7K
Paul Minnaert Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 with gold digger I mean the 30.000 asking for the ebay one.
Murray Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I have been told 20 000 euro at the factory door plus taxes shipping etc etc. I just havn't quiet convinved myself to spend 20 000+ euro on a track specail yet, I'm working on it though!
Alex-Corsa Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I have been told 20 000 euro at the factory door plus taxes shipping etc etc. I just havn't quiet convinved myself to spend 20 000+ euro on a track specail yet, I'm working on it though! I haven't convinced myself for the following reasons 1.Heared that the gearbox won't work (from a specialist of the kind) .....perhaps false. 2-Waiting for Guzzi to release a street version or another sport on of that kind with licence plates.(of course in better price) 3.Quite an amount for a bike and then spend even more to make it road legal. 4.It has 4 valves with that belt drive , I am not keen to that and is a bit of a headache to think about. 5.Build a custom sport ....!? Of course MGS can be worth all of it's money , but I don't need a Racing 10K worth of öhlins, a multi computer instrument, to drive to the street.
Murray Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 1 Havn't heard that surely Paul or Helicoter Jim would be making loud nioses about it to my understanding it is the V11 gearbox with a different endplate. 2. Yes kinda sort I still kinda feel they never replaced the 1100 sport properly, however I don't think the old two valve motor will cut it as a sports motor anymore. 3. Yes the major hurdle but I was going to keep it as a track specail. 4. As a track specail I don't envisage them been changed very often I don't see it as much of a hurdle there are still plenty of Daytona's and Centaro's around. 5. I think by the time I get close to building a bike to the level I would of spent many many times its price. There is a Daytona Racing for sale locally for similar kind of money (its actully No1 of 100) its had the full raceco treatment PVM wheels the works they guy told me what it cost him, yeah its not pretty. I also think the MGS-01 will reprsent the end of a era for Moto Guzzi. It will be the last of the aircooled twin serious performance bikes the fact thats it a track specail is testiment to what has finally caught up witht he 40 year old design (emissions) so possibly could be worth something in many years time. Could also be considered completely useless as no one will have fuel to put in it. Note I'm still trying to talk myself into it at the moment maybe I can use your reasons not to buy one.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 My gearbox works just fine thankyou!
