Thanks everyone for all your help these past two years. I finally got my '04 Nero straightened out about 2 or 3 months back from all my problems that I had. Turned out it was a faulty "potentiometer"? Among other things, fault shift return spring - never fully sorted out - faulty oil light - faulty clutch switch - fault kickstand switch - faulty engine cut off switch and a few other things. Don't know but I was pissed that it sat at Atlanta Triumph Ducati for over 6 months while they figured it out. Anyways as passionate and in love as I am with that bike, and with AAALLLLL the cash I sunk into it to hop it up - I'm selling it to my best friend Randy.

 

I'm sure he will be reaching out to everyone here as he begins his own personal GUZZI andventure. He has been lusting after that bike ever since I picked it up two years ago, and he made me an incredible offer that I just could not pass up. So it leaves Atlanta for San Jose Calif. on Saturday -_--_-

 

So I'm flipping it for a new BMW R1200S. I test rode it a couple of times and WOW! - I am giving up 75% of engine "soul" and "connection" - I'm giving up 50% of "great looks" and I'm giving up 100% of "classic never out of style - museum piece motorcycle" But in my for me it is right to do (do I sound like I'm trying to convince myself?) I'm getting greater reliability, greater confidence that when I go from Atlanta to ride the Cherahola I'm not going to get stuck, and I'm getting a parts stream that is available, a dealer network of mechanics that at least somewhat know what they are doing, that are in Atlanta -

 

I'm psyched cause I really think I am going to love the R12S - It will sit in my cycle workshop between it's cousin an '01 RT and my toy a '05 VESPA GT 200

 

Cheers everyone - Atlanta Guzzi'ists can see me next week at the Vortex on my new BMW R1200S - Red and Silver stripes - Picking it up on Saturday - California riders keep an eye out for my boy Randy he lives in Los Gatos near San Jose and he will be burning up the rodes I'm sure

Once you lose confidence in a bike not to let you down, it has to go. Doesn't matter what make it is.

Well the r1200s is a nice bike, not without its own issues as well but the parts and dealer network is excellent, I trust you got the ohlins option. I have been interested in the vert twin r800s, supposed to be quite a weapon, I will find out when I can test ride. Hope the BM works out for you, its a shame you had a bad experience with your Guzzi.

I'm with nog, if the bike starts to let you down the point that you don't know if it'll ever keep you up again it has to go, I don't care if its a MV Agusta 750 America, Its gotta go. :grin:

I am thinking a beemer for touring myself. Used of coarse and much cheaper than the harley for now. Mostly because I need a 4 door, with a second kid on the way and all. :huh2::doh:

honestly I don't know where I was for this one. :unsure:

A very nice choice of bike. I lust after it myself. Sounds like you had a Guzzi lemon. That's the thing about Guzzi - you can either be very lucky or very unlucky. That is how they are. Plus the expensive parts and weird company communication. Dearlership is also an issue. None of this applies to the fine BMW that has a much better base of support.

 

I would encourage you to keep the bike totally stock. I will never cut up a bike again. I'm leaving my RC51 company stock. Not even cans.

 

If I win the lotto (which I have never played), I would get the R1200S - in addition to three or four others I need.

 

If your Guzzi is not nice to you, it has got to go. Good luck, and there is no reason to leave the site. We'd like to hear about your adventures.

:moon: Oh dear ! i suppose it's still got two wheels :homer: .Youre guzzi must have been a friday afternoon built machine :huh2: Shame you couldn't go for a griso or breva ! more class than a teutonic Bland Moto Werk with saggy tits!.But good luck all the same!. :race:
