any dyno tuners w/Guzzi experience in near San Diego?

Greetings,

Just finished doing all the mods I could afford to my Guzzi.

Now what I'd like to do is take it to a Dyno Tuner to create a custom map for my set up.

I'm in the San Diego area and wonder if there are any tuners close by w/Guzzi experience.

Chevis, you just missed an opportunity with Louie The Dyno Guy, who dragged his setup out somewhere in Orange County (I think). But if you watch this space and stay close to Todd Eagan on GuzziTech, there'll be other opportunities.

 

You've got a similar setup to mine. How does it run now?

It runs fine now...FBF did install a map when I purchased the PC from them for my setup.

I'm hoping w/an advanced tuning map I'll get better response/encreased enjoyment.

While some folks seem really satisfied with downloaded maps, as I was before I had a custom map. I can tell you than in my opinion, a custom map done by someone who knows guzzi's is the single best improvement you can do to your bike. On two of my guzzi's, I had downloaded maps, and I thought they were great, until I had a custom map made. The smoothness, driveability and all around good running are addicting. Guzzi's have enough variation in them that the best map for your bike is a map for your bike.

From what I understand he'll be doing it again...if the neighbors don't complain <_>

Dyno Dudes (Moreno Valley) would have been the next best thing to L and L, but I guess they went out of business. :(

Lee's Cycles may be your next best bet, and I am sure they will claim some Guzzi experience, but I doubt it is anywhere near Louis' Guzzi experence. I personally would wait for L and L to come to San Diego or give him a call to find out when he will be doing something close enough.

Will also send Todd an email re. tuners close by in the event Louis isn't available.

I've contacted Lee's, imo it didn't sound like they have much Guzzi experience.

They said they could build a map, not an advanced map. Also price seemed on the high end.

Placentia, an hour north of S.D? My, but the CHiPpies must sure love you come the end of the month when they're hard up to make their quota!

;)

 

In a truck or van w/ a Bike in the back, you'll be looking at 1.5 hours at best between S.D. (proper) & Placentia. Heck, it takes me 45 min. in light traffic, & I'm only in southern OC!

 

Of course, I'm of an age that I can remember when it was only an hour from Placentia to Sandy Eggos, but that's been a long, long, time past... :\

From the Northern edge of San Diego North County, it is probably about an hour :sun:

I talked to buymoto.com and they are hoping to get Louis back with his mobile dyno in the Autumn....But I would not wait.

I'm in San Diego, and a new owner of a 2000 V11S with K&N, Stucci, and Power Commander setup. I'd be interested in any recommendations or dyno days as well - or if you just want to get together and compare maps/notes!

 

Right now I have to go out and figure out how to get that sidestand out of the way before it kills me. :)

Welcome to THE Forum!

For starters, you MUST attend the Euro Moto Fest this October. :bier:

But I guess before then, you should sort out the sidestand.

You may already know the following:

You may trim the rubber stopper down a bit.

I would not cut the rubber off all the way, as this makes the front of the stand touch sooner, and rubber is forgiving so when the stand does hit, it is less likely to catch.

The other solutions are suspension.

A lower front end handles better, but then your stand is lower, too.

So, Adjust the forks to an appropriate compromise.

Fork springs effect ride height.

So, set your sag properly.

Adjusting the rear ride height is also important....but I have not figured out yet if the rear should be higher or lower to make it handle better.

In your case, higher will give you more cornering clearance.

One size narrower rear tires make the bike handle better, but again, this reduces cornering clearance.

A better stand would be the best solution, but I don't know of anything.

Although Paul Minneart (spelling???) mentioned something about a stand from an earlier spine frame :huh2:

And I am all for talking PCIII maps and I will post again when I hear the dyno trailer is in town :bier:
