Vancouver Island Trip

I'm leaving on a trip to Vancouver Island on Saturday Aug. 12th from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo. Staying with a relative in Port Alberni Saturday night and got a place in Tofino for Sunday night, back to the mainland on Monday afternoon.

I'm looking for suggestions on good motorcycling roads and places to check out along the way. I have a week to plan the route it will be four of us on two bikes. (we are bringing the girls, so 1000km days are out of the question, if you know what I mean )

 

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

 

PS: Micro breweries are a good enough reason for a detour! ( any good ones Steve G. ?)

Take the ferry from Campbell River to Powell River on the trip back so you can ride the sunshine coast. The rest I'm not too current on but I know you are going to have a great ride.

 

Take pictures!! How about a Guzzi silhouette with the rocky coast and pacific ocean for a background!! It could make bike of the month.

That sounds like a good plan Jim, I hadn't thought about doing that but I'll look into it. I'm going to buy the destination highways book for BC and plan some of the roads accordingly. I know there is a guy in Coombs (with the goats on the roof) who makes custom motorcycle jackets and other leather stuff so I would like to check that out.

 

I will take lots of pictures and post some when I get back.
