Excuse me:

1) Post a Picture of something preferrably a Motor Bike of some origin

2) Clarify if there is to be more than a single point awarded for some reason

3) No Whinning

4) A * will be placed to show that a point has been awarded if there are multiple points there will be multiple ***

5) A quiz that goes past 1 month without a proper guess will be eligible to receive a stumper

6) Try to make it hard, or at least interesting.

Don't see nuthin' 'bout no one-offs. Besides, I don't believe this to be a one off machine. For a fact, there are at least two (because that's how many I've seen firsthand), and I suspect several more of the same design.

We don't know that (yet....) - there were companies that made these. Not that I know of one offhand but I'm always willing to learn. Having said _that_, even before WWI these were not the most difficult machines to construct, they were limited in design by cycle racing regulations and so it is likely that there were more one-offs than commercial products.

 

Modern motor pacers are made from mopeds to a quite specific design.

I feel one'offs are ok as long as its not a backyard special, as in bits and peices someone put together for no real reason whatsoever. There should be some significance to said one-off'ish quizes. I think this one looks legitamate, I've never seen anything like it and its obviously built for racing.

Note the frame tubes.....much better made than in the quiz bike and much more fragile looking. The helmet looks the same, though.

 

I revise my opinion of capacity. I think it's about 800cc. About 48c.i?

The bike in question is a BAC or a Meier BAC bicycle pacing motorcyle built in France. They were built by Louis Bac (who apparently was an aircraft engineer?) between 1925 and 1938 or '39. The motor is a 2400cc monster. I thought I read that it was a overhead four valve, but it doesn't look like it to me.

The only things I could find on the web were:

Well done! Excellent quiz. Looks like he was an engineer for Peugot and built these in his spare time. I don't understand why he went to the bother of building his own engine, that looks like nothing I've seen before ( http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afbeelding:Meier_BAC.jpg ) then built such a home-made (which, of course, it was....) looking sub-frame.
