Baldini Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 If you want quicker steering try Mich Pilot Power 2CT's. No 170 tho but 180 is good. There is a 160 too. KB
Guest geno929 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 So I'm prepping the bike for "The Dragon" in early Oct. and was reading about some of the suggestions made to "quicken" the steering on my 2000 V11 Sport. I'm very happy with the Dunlop 208's that are on the bike, but I was hoping for a bit quicker steering response. Today I dropped the triple clamps 6 mm, or moved the forks up 6 mm. However you want to look at it. WOW! Turn in is much quicker and she seems to be more stable at apex. I love a good cheap fix!
Guest Nogbad Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Slow steering? Put your back into it man and shove that bar harder.
Paul Minnaert Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Tires are the cheapest way to change anything. And I can know, because I changed everything. In the end I have a real quick steering bike, wheelbase 1430 mm. But for tires, I think sport tires, instead of sport tour tires wil give more result as they are made for quick steering. I use pilot power now, I like that tire. The first thing I changed on my daytona 10 years ago was a set of eccentric steering head bearings. I was pleased, with them for 9 years, then I let Dynotec cut the steering head and weld it on, steeper. The result is great. But as I told one thing isn't doing it all, I also changed the triple clamps offset, to 30mm. And not forget I have a PVM frontwheel, makes a difference at speed, because it has less gyroscopic effect. The le mans frame was made longer by the factory because some people didn't like the faster steering v11 sport. If you cutoff the steering head, at lot can be taken away. Look at your front wheel alternator cover distance, mine is not much more then 2 inches. I won't start about my swingarm:-)

I don't want to alter the frame, the eccentric steering head bearings were what I was referring to. I've seen them on rossopuro's site but no pricing. I E-mailed them but have not had a response yet. Also saw them on Ghezzi-Brian's site but they never respond to any inquiry. Do you know of another source?
