Basically there's 3 versions of V11: 99/2000 (original short frame, 4.5" rear rim). 01/02 (long frame 5" r rim ). 03 onwards ( w front ex balance pipe). For each there's various ltd ed models (Ohlins, Single plate clutches, bodywork etc). That bike is an 01/02 type.

I say get out of the deal.

That was a fair price for a 2004 but less so for a 2002....Not worth the hostage taking trip to England.

If you are looking for a St. Patrick to bring back from the land of angles to convert the heathens of Ireland, I don't think this is the one.

Thanks everyone for your help,

Because of you I have been able to extricate myself from a mediocre (at best) deal with all the risk of buying something without riding it. I believe you have to be getting a below market price to take the risk of buying a bike on ebay. Unfortunately in Ireland there is such a small market that you have to go outside the country to get one unless you are willing to wait.

Now I have to find my self a Guzzi and hopefully soon.

I hope I won't be booted off the forum, now that I don't actually own one yet.

...and let the dealer re-post the ad as a 2002...maybe you'll get it for less money

Or, I just looked at http://www.nadaguides.com/ and found the price difference between a 2002 and a 2004 to be about $500US.

Maybe the dealer will sell it to you for the difference???????

Just to put it in perspective UK dealer Corsa Italiana

V11%20red%20RL%2014cms.jpg

V11 SPORT REG 2001, 5400 MILES

£3750.00

FULLY SERVICED,

NEW REAR TYRE,

VERY GOOD CONDITION

Obviously this is a dealer so will get sales of goods act cover etc

I've not seen this have no conections with the dealer etc.... But it's not too far off the ebay bike. Perhaps a fuller tral of the UK dealers will find a closer match to give you a ball park position.

I'm dogging you dliang.... I agree with you here!

Which opinion?

I was flip floppin' :P

First I said bail, then I said wheel and deal!

You should have seen my brain waves flippin' and flopping when I bought my Guzzi. :cheese:

But eventually I made the p roper decision and went with Guzzi rather than BMW, Buell, or Ducati :mg:

NEW 1200 SPORT DUE LATE 06,ESTIMATED TO BE AROUND £7499.00 OTR

MOST POWERFULL GUZZI TOO DATE,EST 105 BHP.

A little pricey, but great to see Guzzi break the 100 HP barrier, even if it is only at the crank.

Maybe Guzzi heard some of us on the forum making wish lists :huh2:

Now if I start saving for a second hand 2007 model in 2010....

100 HP but not in the wheel I suppose.Perhaps with that racing kit that they will also offer then that's possible (and perhaps more than that if the made their homework right)

Also, consider one of the earlier year models, like an '00 or '01. They have some distinct advantages over later models- (cosmetic) the cases are the proper silver color for an engine/transmission and (geometry) the shorter frame and steeper head angle give a more 'live' feel to the ride. It's not twitchy, not in my experience, just quicker handling.

The dealer said he would put the bike back on EBay as an 02. I did try but he wouldn't deal. I may try him again after he's had time to review last months stock.

Jrt I am not married to a post 03 bike. In fact I had a feeling that some pictures I'd seen of earlier bikes were better than the later ones but wasn't clued in enough to know if this was due to after market modifications or what.

I do know that I am ready to offload my current bike (nobody laugh) BMW R1200C. It has some attractive features (ABS) but it's under powered and grounds on bumpy corners.

Is there a short cut on line to trawling the UK dealers?

I've posted in the classified section here. There are a couple of lovely bikes for sale there but all in the States.

I suppose the question is - What is the most efficient way to find a guzzi in the UK (Ireland would be great but there are too few)

There is a great German site

http://www.kfz-nfz.de/moto-en/index.html?g...CFSxUMAodbQ-Zhw

which has a massive selection but it's in Germany.

Yep and if you try www.mobile.de (have modified the search to hit V11's ) there are plenty more. That's where I have found mine

And there are some more in www.motoscout24.de as well

P.S. Damn , there is a lovelly Corsa (no.167.)in ebay UK , but I'm afraid that's too far away for me,too out of season and too unplanned to mess around with the auction and get it. Where is this Orkney anyways.?

All these dealers are Guzzi specialists & usually have a V11 to sell, give em a ring:

Twiggers (Loughborough) 01509263967

Corsa Italiana (London) 02085407155

Streffords (Worcester) 0190523532

Motocorsa (Dorset) 01202822511

Moto Strada (Yorks) 01274592500

MCN usually has a couple but none this week. MGCGB mag usually has a few: dunno when it comes out next.

I think the price was good for such a low mileage. There's not a BIG improvement in later bikes and actually I think that the earlier ones (around '02) look better. On Yer Bike, who sell at low prices, but give service to match, has new Ballabios for £5,399 and 02/03 V.11 / LeMans for £4,499 - £4,999.

If you look, there are usually plenty of these bikes for sale. As Baldini says, keep looking at MCN, but you should also find them easy enough on the web. You should have no bother finding one and it's worth considering the silver one again. If it's a dealer then you should have some guarantee / come-back.

There's a lovely early green one for sale here, but the dealer still wants £6,400 for it – which is absolutely barking.

I've been wondering why so many second-hand Grisos are coming onto the market so soon?

This 2001, 13,800 miles, is £3,699

Greenies are are around £3,500

This one with cans, Power Commander etc and only 3,500 miles in £3,995

There are plenty more. £5,000 takes you to 2004.

Me too. I guess summertime posing is over, & next year brings another toy. If I was in the market for Guzzi I'd be looking at them.
