Guest geno929 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 So me and four buddies came up to "The Dragon" yesterday from St. Louis. After getting used to the tight and the twistie's of route 129 ie: The Dragon, we explored the surrounding roads. The Cherohala Skyway was AWESOME. Fast sweepers both uphill and downhill. Lots of different bikes and everyone was pleasant and fun. The Guzzi sounded good and got a lot of attention. Many female riders and all seemed polite. Waht a great experience! You should try it. We stayed at the Tapoco Lodge, right at the bottom of the Dragon. Nice accomidations, adequate food and a great location! Try it too. Geno.
CafeMan Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Deal's Gap is the draw and can be a circus......but the surrounding roads are where it's at....less traffic and hazards. Always worth a trip!
mountainrider Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I'm very fortunate to live just 45 minutes away from the Dragon. Lots of hipe, but still a very good road to ride. I tend to stay away from there during the weekends, and ride it in the middle of the week, there are just too many squids for my taste. All the roads in this part are really good roads, come up and for a couple of days and explore everywhere, you won't be dissapointed.
Tracey Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Don't forget North Georga & T.W.O. a.k.a. Wolf's Pen Gap. So many great roads and so little vacation time...
