jihem Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 from Wikipedia, hardly a 100% secure source, sure, but still a good take on things once in a while: A champion (identical to the French, from the late Latin campio) is one who has repeatedly come out first among contestants in challenges (especially the winner of a tournament or other competition) or other test, one who is outstandingly skilled in their field. that MotoGP news article is funny, and has a few interesting facts like the one about Bayliss having lead more laps (30) in one race than Hayden all year long (29)...
gthyni Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 In my book, the title goes to the guy who won the most points in a season and that was Nicky. nobody is claiming otherwise, BUT we still reserve the right to think that riding like a chipmunk collecting points instead of riding for the victory in the races is BORING, and it is bad for the sport when the fans that are the targets of the sponsors think it is boring. How many liters of Repsol oil did you buy in 2006? NH has almost no fan base in the countries where MotoGP is big business, and winning the championship with the least agressive riding ever by a champion will not help.
belfastguzzi Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Yep, just like there's no dispute over who became the 'Merikan President. The best guy, steady chap: the facts speak for themselves – he must be the best 'cause he got the most points... oh...errrmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

badmotogoozer Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Only one square block and six stories high?? Kinda small by 'merican standards isn't it? Rj
