Guest drknow Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Thought I'd share. Ordered a size 46 from them directly. They said they had no idea what European size they were, they only use American sizes. This is a bad sign, I thought. Told them I wear size 12, but wanted a 46, and whatever size a 46 is in their boots, that's what I want. They sent a 12, size 47!! Of course, the boots are too big. I called to ask for a call tag and shipping back for the exchange. They told me forget it, I ordered a 12, it's listed on the invoice, and I got a 12. But I can pay to return them for exchange. They even acknowledge that the American sizing doesn't match exactly with the European sizing. ARRRGH! I will continue to support Sidi, as I've never had any issues. Don't know what I was thinking. DK
Alex-Corsa Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Oooh man ,why you do such mistakes. Look , IF you don't want to look like an astronaut and have THE BEST protection of the class you are paying for, get the Daytonas... made in Germany and not china with best quality leathers and Top Notch ergonomy and protection as well Guaranteed
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 They sent a 12, size 47!! I reckon you got a UK size 12 which is closer to American size 13. Sorry about your luck. I hope you can find someone with clod hopper feet to take them off your hands.
dlaing Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 But keep in mind, conversion charts are not all the same, and shoe makers are all over the place. I wear anything from a US 10.5 to an 11.5. It does seem like they matched you up with close to a UK 12
Zoom Zoom Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Sorry to hear about you trouble. I can second Sidi. I purchased a pair of the "On Road Sympatex" boots prior to a long trip this past summer. One day, we had torrential downpours all day. Toma Wisconsin to Bismark North Dakota. I was the ONLY person on the trip with dry feet that night. I bought them from New Enough. (Yes, they were new.) Highly recomend!!!!! Zoom Zoom, John Henry
jrt Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Man, tough love around here. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles with Gaerne. I have a set of Gaernes for my dirt riding, and while they are acceptable boots, my street Sidis are far better built.
Guest bshpilot Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 lesson learned i guess...ebay 'em or sell 'em to a friend... ive got gaerne boots...nothing fancy...theyve held up well and for the most part are water tight unless you forget to get the flap shut tight...then they make great buckets i guess, in support of retail/dealers this would have been a great chance to order from a local shop...GOOD dealers are able to return or order you a size in each direction of what you think you need...that alone is worth the cost over what i MIGHT save from buying on the 'net
Steve G. Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Oooh man ,why you do such mistakes. Look , IF you don't want to look like an astronaut and have THE BEST protection of the class you are paying for, get the Daytonas... made in Germany and not china with best quality leathers and Top Notch ergonomy and protection as well Guaranteed If only you knew how tough it is to order stuff out of Europe. I ordered boots from Altberg, and specified North American size 11 pleasantly, but extremely strongly. 2 1/2 months later, friggin' UK11's show up. Plus, you can forget returning anything back! I'm amazed how clueless some companies are, in their own specialty. Ciao, Steve
dlaing Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Since you are in San Diego, I recommend these guys, whom you may know: http://www.buymoto.com/Boots_s/17.htm It looks like all their Sidi prices are list....It was not like that a few months ago. I suppose the price may be negotiable FWIW Just as a matter of disclosure, I used to work with one of the owners. So, I do have a slight bias for their service, but I also have a bias for GP and especially Sonny Angel. BuyMoto has Moto in their name! How cool is that!?!

This little experiment was the exception. oh well... dk
Dan M Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 That sucks. lesson learned I guess. Hard to go wrong with Sidi, I've had a pair for several years, very good boots. The soles are showing some wear now & I may replace them next year. Anyone here familiar with the Vendramini brand?
Steve G. Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 That sucks. lesson learned I guess. Hard to go wrong with Sidi, I've had a pair for several years, very good boots. The soles are showing some wear now & I may replace them next year. Anyone here familiar with the Vendramini brand? I tend to go overboard studying a future purchase. Such is the present case with my quest for the best hybrid [the best of motocross with the comfort and weather proofness of street boots] boots available. This search has led me to the Sidi Discovery. For the money, it is the one. However, if money was no object, Vendramini would be my only choice, the best hand made old world manufactured boots available, still hand made by the Vendramini family! Ciao, Steve
Alex-Corsa Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Speaking of SIDI you have to have in mind that their numbes are different than normal sizes i.e. I wear 43 in all shoes and boots but for SIDI, I had to go 44 to get my feet in,
Tom M Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 My Don't buy helmets, boots, or skates online unless you are absolutely certain that they will fit. The hassle and expense of shipping stuff back and forth because it's not quite right usually isn't worth it to save a few bucks.
badmotogoozer Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I always find my correct size at a local shop or show. Then see what I can find for the best price. Usually I can find anything I want for 1/2 what the local shops want or better. If the difference is only 10-15% (20% for a shop that treats me well) to buy locally, I'll support the local shop. Buying clothing on line is a real crap shoot for sizes! Rj
