polebridge Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 Unfortunately I also own an Aprilia Falco. Now things are really in the toilet. Kaput I own an Aprilia Falco also. Great bike but I don't ride it much since owning the MG. What about you Kaput? You ride your Falco much these days? Have you seen the new Ducati 1098? 160HP, under 400 lbs, and under $15,000 USD. Aprilia is in deep, deep trouble!
Karl Von Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Unfortunately I also own an Aprilia Falco. Now things are really in the toilet. Kaput You could say that it is a Italian thing, but look at Ducati. They opened a new dealer in Tampa, and there are Ducks everywhere. I have already seen a few vintage Paul Smarts on the road. They have a big dealer network that seems to work, have a big presence at the major bike events, and have a big club following. I don’t know if being owned by a American parent company makes a difference. Why can't Piaggio take a page from Ducati's business plan? I guess the Aprilia dealer in St Pete got feed up with them. They used to have a bunch of Aprilia bikes, scooters, and even carried the electric bicycles. Now almost nothing. They did have about 200 Hondas and Yams on the floor.

I do not think the Texas Pacific Group is a majot investor in Ducati any longer. TPG DOES own 20 percent of Piaggio now, though, so you could see them buy more shares and force changes that could affect Guzzi and Aprilia. Rumors are that a certain dealer is trying to prod TPG toward just such a course of action . . .
Guest Gary Cheek Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 There is no Moto Guzzi , just a scooter company making plastic scooter cicles and turning their back on the dedicated , former Guzzi riders. When the dealers run the busness everybody loses.

Ride my Falco inbetween getting parts, right now a new starter solenoid but the V11 sport and Falco combination is a good one and I think there are one or two other forum members who own the same. Whenever there is a choice the Guzzi wins. Kaput
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I stopped by this weekend and discovered that they have changed their name to 'Ducati New York' and no longer sell Aprilias or Moto Guzzis. Instead they now sell just Ducatis, Triumphs, and MVs. Well this won't help you any but Valley Yamaha of Chilliwack, BC (formerly Valley Yamaha/Moto Guzzi until last spring) is now Valley Yamaha/Moto Guzzi/Aprilia!! They were informed of the return of dealership status last Wednesday and as of today it looks like they have taken deposits for 3 Moto Guzzi's and one Aprilia. There is also talk of Griso and Breva 1100 demonstrator bikes. I think I'm going to get an SVX 550 - sort of a commuter bike!! P.S. Antonio. I still have the Monster but it is really for sale now to pay for new bikes!!

Through third gear, you can just roll on and have the wheel in the sky as high as you like, and some wheelspin at the same time in first and second. You have to de-restrict them, or they're crap. Have the dealer build this into the set-up. Trust me on this. It doubles the horsepower, maybe even more than doubles it.

DeBenGuzzi Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I think I'm going to get an SVX 550 - sort of a commuter bike!! oh brother, who do you think youre kidding? I guess if that helps you sleep at night, where do you communte through a MX track? I'm either gonna get a 04 silver factory or a 07 black silver tuono, with Tigcrafts, hey I finally got it down between two bikes and one brand, you all should be proud

While they are not technically street legal, we have gotten plates on every one we've sold. Every one of them is currently being used as a commuter. I'm considering one myself.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Every one of them is currently being used as a commuter. .... and I am sure they are an inspiration to commute several times a day! My work has me staying in logging camps frequently and they tend to be a hub for logging roads. I can't imagine a better toy to take to work than a Motard with cut slicks! By the way Ben, Valley Moto Guzzi/Aprilia may even have a Tuono demonstrator for a short while. Wanna come visit?

By the way Ben, Valley Moto Guzzi/Aprilia may even have a Tuono demonstrator for a short while. Wanna come visit? I may look for work in Oregon/Washington when I am done with school. I'm originally from Salem and have a lot of family still in and around Oregon. I'd especially consider it if you let me touch your MGS-01 or sleep next to it in the garage I don't think I have a single dealer left in MN anymore, if I do get a Tuono from a dealer and not second hand It'll be either MPH or AF1, I've heard good things about both. I wonder why there are so many good dealers in Tx's but then that worries me about getting a new one, so I pay a little extra and get a warranty, does that really do me any good if the closest dealer is 4-6 hours away min? and definatly in another state

I have already replaced my solenoid (with a Honda part - a lot easier to get and a lot cheaper).

If you find yourself in Seattle, Moto I has demos of both the SXV and the Tuono (and Mille).

So please don't tell me. Thanks in advance. Kaput
