Alex-Corsa Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Now anyone know a way to help protect the carbon resin from UV damage? Why not apply a clear coat on them AFAIK the slip onns don't get hot enough to destroy the coat (or do they?) , and as claimed all these new varishes are offering UV protection.
Greg Field Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Cover the bike if it's gonna be exposed to full sunlight all day. For lesser exposure, don't worry.
waspp Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 A decent single stage urethane clear would probably work fine on carbon cans, plus yopu could go for gloss semi gloss or flat finish. I wouldn't think adhesion would be a problem and temp certainly not. waspp
Guzzirider Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Does anyone remember the days when the reason for buying new silencers (aka mufflers) was because the old ones had rusted away? Does this still ever happen???
Skeeve Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Does anyone remember the days when the reason for buying new silencers (aka mufflers) was because the old ones had rusted away? Does this still ever happen??? Not since pipes stopped being made of mild steel with a hi-temp paint finish... Of course, made that way, pipes were so much cheaper to replace that nobody much cared if they rusted away before you managed to drop the bike & ding'em, 'cause it was only about $200 in today's dollars ($100 back then) for a new set!
bento Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Goodness I can't believe I never got back to this thread! I found some bub pipes on ebay, and 1200 bucks later...
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 The Bub's themselves cost 1200 dollars? That is a lot for Bub's or did that include other mods as well? By the way, I havn't checked to see if Guest_dlaing has compiled the list yet. Maybe I'll look later today if i get bored.
bento Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Huh, I'm not sure now that I think about it. It could have been 800(maybe the hepco-becker set goes for 1200?). What I do know is bub stopped making them, and some cat had like 6 sets of them in his shop and didn't know how to get rid of them.
leafman60 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Be careful with the BUBs. They sound mean but they almost universally crack apart. They typically crack where the hanger is butt welded to the muffler. If you can rig up some sort of rubber vibration isolator where the hanger bolts to the porkchop, it may last longer. I bought a couple of these from BUB before they stopped production for about 400 or less. If you ride much, I can almost guarantee theyll break. If that happens, you can saw of the BUB muffler and attach a universal clamp-on unit .. JC Whitney ??? Hey its better than the BUB. Huh, I'm not sure now that I think about it. rossoandy Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 A buddy of mine has multiple Renegade products on his Aprilia Falco, and they are of the highest quality. They now have: http://www.renegade-products.com/renegade/...html?1030119565 Ride well. Ride safe. -Jack Price Glendale, CA 02 V11 Le Mans (13 months, 26k miles) Hi all, I have a couple of Oval Carbon cans from Renegade on my V1100 Rosso Mandello,in fact if you go to the Renegade site and look for the V1100 cans you wil find pics of my very bike there! I have got to say they made a world of difference to the performance as well as sounding boomey and being about a quarter of the weight of the originals. They are well finished and fit very well too.Furthermore the guys at Renagade offer a re pack service should you need it and wil repair a damaged can too. Top service! I remember vividly having my first Renegade can fitted to my 1200Bandit....I pulled out of the estate, gave a bit of gas....and pulled a huge wheelie without any effort whatsover!! scared me silly at time! They do offer a rolling road Dyno check should you wish too...They are located next door to Brands Hatch circuit UK.
dlaing Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 The Bub's themselves cost 1200 dollars? That is a lot for Bub's or did that include other mods as well? By the way, I havn't checked to see if Guest_dlaing has compiled the list yet. Maybe I'll look later today if i get bored. There have been alot of nice additions since I last updated the list on my website (see signature: V11SixSpeed aka http://www.geocities.com/rcdlaing/ ) I guess I need to go back through the ten pages and update the list Here is what I compiled years ago: Mistral aluminum, carbon round, carbon oval, titanium, http://www.agostiniduilio.com/ http://www.mgcycle.com/ staintune ss http://www.cbtimports.com/staintunehome.htm m4 aluminum, carbon http://www.m4exhaust.com/ Also available at http://www.harpermotoguzzi.com and http://www.mphcycles.com fbf titanium or carbon http://www.ferracci.comThey also make a crossover Raceco titanium http://www.raceco.com/exhausts.html Leo's aluminum, titanium or carbon, http://www.leovince-america.com/slip.htm Link is dead and I think the company is, too. Quat-D Muffler available from Ghezzi-Brian. I bought one of these and loved it The midrange improved but I lost a little top end. It made the bike more fun to drive and handle better because of its under transmission position. But I wanted more top end power so I traded for Mistrals. I am not sure it was a good idea to trade, oh well. for more on this muffler: http://www.guzzitech.com/Quat-D_David-L.html UPDATE Quat-D came out with a new model that is more promising. Gianelli ??? maxtreme ??? D&D ??? Bub ??? Galassetti http://www.galassetti.it/ Thank You all for your past and future contributions to the list.
waspp Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Leo Vince no longer makes a slip on for the V11 Good evening Hal! I am sorry to tell you that we do not have pipes for your bike. It’s a shame, as that is a beautiful bike! Thanks you for your interest in our products, and please let me know if we can help you in the future. helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Raceco titanium http://www.raceco.com/exhausts.html Last time I tried the Raceco website (maybe a year ago) it wouldn't work. Good to see it's there again. Always loved this bike.
plexiform Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I have staintunes on my lemans and i've been pretty happy with them. If you're going for deep sound but not obnoxiously loud, and you can appreciate the smoothness of the polished finish, then you will not be dissappointed with the Staintunes.
DeBenGuzzi Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 you could prolly get leo's for an aprilia or monster and just "nudge" the pipe in the right direction for yourself, as long as the pipes are the same size the muffler shouldn't be too different, especially for the monster. I like my FBF pipes but I pine for the Guzzi Ti kit alas, no money for that.
