Guest jim fordham Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 The time has come for me and my Scura R to part. I am on the hunt for a super moto to race, so something has to go. So what is a 2005 scura R worth , It's in A1 condition with the factory pipes and CDI with only 3000 miles on the clock. Has anyone seen one sell and how much. Its a bit of a odd ball , where do you advertise it. Will be sad to see it go. Jim
Guzzirider Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Hi Jim Sorry to hear your V11 is on its way. The thing with the Scura R is that there are no comparable machines for sale so if you find someone who really wants one you may be able to get some decent money for it. Saying that, Guzzis do depreciate a lot in their early days and I saw a year old Coppa Italia with factory pipes for sale at a dealer a few weeks back for under £5k- not far off half the brand new price. Here is a link to V11s currently for sale on Bike Trader. Corsa Italiana in London are Guzzi dealers and also sell Supermoto racers- have you thought about a swap with them? Cheers Guy
Guest jim fordham Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Its there Honda CF450 I ve got my eyes on , I would rather have both but she who must be obeyed said something about tackle and a blunt knife!!!
Guest jim fordham Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Not sure EBay is the best place. Never sure whats going to happen . Plus to many horror stories with payment.
grossohc Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I found my cafe sport in the mcn website, might be worth a try. Gary
Orson Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 a year from now we'll have to listen to you go on about how you shouldn't have sold it
Guest jim fordham Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I know what you mean but I can't have it all. Don't think i would have another V11, rode a breva a while ago and I must say it is a very good bike, when the kids are older I could see my self touring on one. But for know I what something I can back in to corners and light up on the way out. Jim a year from now we'll have to listen to you go on about how you shouldn't have sold it
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Its there Honda CF450 I ve got my eyes on , I would rather have both but she who must be obeyed said something about tackle and a blunt knife!!! I'm looking at the Aprilia SXV for similar purposes. I don't know about the UK but here in Canada I can get an SXV for about 500 dollars less than a CR450F kitted out with similar wheels and brakes. There is also the added bonus that the SXV has full lighting kit , a bigger back wheel and about 20 more horsepower. On the other hand I'm not going to sell my V11!! Perhaps if you bought a kevlar codpiece to go with it .... By the way, ebay can be fine if you set your own parameters. I suggest you try selling local first with pick-up or local delivery only. If you wish to sell abroad then make sure the money is at least put into escrow before shipping the bike. That way you can ensure payment before the bike leaves your possession. I like your profile photo.
rossoandy Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 like all sales what u get depends on how long you got to sell! MGOC GB good place if you can wait, MCN can get very pricey and with patchy results, E Bay will get maximum exposure for your money and you can of course put just a 'Buy it Now' tag on it or a reserve set at your desired price with a note for interested parties to 'offer' if they wish via e mail. I would wait until it stops raining meself...... or of course you could always break it for spares..........!!!!!!! Put my name against the suspension parts £100? lol Good luck and...................you'll be sorry u sold it.....
Guest jim fordham Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 the sxv is holding good money over here and just over my budget , I need some race enrty money plus some over bits. Bad time of year to sell , well probably give ebay a go in a few weeks. see what happens, Would rather talk the wife into letting me have both although I found the scura hard on a long run . I bought my Rosso Corsa on ebay after seeing another one go about a month before I had decided to buy. I knew what I wanted and was ready to bid with cash in hand.
Guest jim fordham Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I ve done it Know its on EBAY!!!!!!!!!!!! no 290069560480 jim
DeBenGuzzi Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 if you get the SXV make sure your clutch is on tight!!! check the aprilis site for the horror stories. 10min of work will save you 10 months of hassle. Apperently luigi didn't thread lock the bolts on a lot of the models nor torq them down.
